He said it was too early to tell when it was going to be announced, not that it was too early to announce it.

NeoGAF - View Single Post - Sony Playstation: First Party Studios and their actual Projects (+Partner Studios)I have always felt 14 studios would be the sweet spot for Sony especially as quite a lot of their studios are basically one team studios. This would not be such a problem if Guerilla,Japan Studio, Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica had more than one project in the works. Only Japan Studio has more than one project in the works. Last gen Santa Monica and Japan Studio out of the 4 studios were the least productive whilst ND and GG pulled their weight with 3 and 4 games respectively. Japan Studio seem to have got their act together and now have the most games in development meanwhile Santa Monica have had to pick themselves up again after the new I.P being canned and numerous lay offs. I do not think staffing up more studios would work as many like SP and Media Molecule seem to like just focusing on one game. This can also be mitigated by strong 2nd party links but even those cannot prevent such huge things such as SSM new I.P being canned or UC4 being delayed which both significantly impacted their 2014 and 2015 games line up. Let's hope it is plain sailing for Sony now and their studios have everything under control.
I hope this is just something he said as a cover up, so the surprise at E3 will be bigger, cause otherwise this will be hugely annoying even for someone like me who isn't a huge GoW fan. Honestly if this stuff is becoming such a common occurence for Sony they should create 1 or 2 more AAA teams to fill in the gaps that all these superlong devcycles are leaving, I know it's not that simple but the PS4 is ruling the market, they should be using the money coming in from that to invest in the longterm health of their gaming business, which includes building a stronger and more reliable first party portfolio.
QuoteSonys Santa Monica Studio is hiring in a major way. The team wants to bring in upward of 50 people across all disciplines to work on their next big game for PlayStation 4. Their project is well into production, and they're hiring fast. So, why Santa Monica Studio?http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/2...p?sf22567246=1
Santa Monica Studio is part of the PlayStation Worldwide Studios 1st party family and is renowned for evolving the action/adventure genre with the iconic God of War franchise. They have also championed innovation in games, and continued to mentor new voices in independent development. Whether its through the incubation program established with thatgamecompany and their series of widely acclaimed titles, flOw, Flower and Journey, or their work with Giant Sparrow on The Unfinished Swan and What Remains of Edith Finch, or the development partnerships with external developers like The Chinese Room on Everybodys Gone to the Rapture or Fun Bits Interactive on Fat Princess Adventures, Santa Monica Studios External Development continues to push the boundaries of gaming.

They assist with second party developers and first party developers who need a hand with coding. So Santa Monica actually worked on a ton of games last gen, you just probably don't know what they were (Since they were normally small titles). God of War is mostly worked on the side.

I'm just talking to myself here, but I don't care. That is actually incredible! The technology is amazing and has so many potential uses!
This is actually pretty interesting, apparently this Hellblade trailer was created entirely in realtime, by which I mean that the actress acted out the scene and that performance was simultaneously and automatically turned into what the onscreen character did. I think I'm describing this really poorly, just watch the video.
I really love these videos. Anything on how ND works is just so interesting and exciting
A couple seconds of new footage in this one as well
