So apparently in this French podcast, it is said that something was supposed to happen re:  GT:S in March but now isn't going to happen and may not have the beta until the end of the year or beyond.http://static.gameblog.fr/podcasts/G..._des_lieux.mp3 From ~ 1:08:15. Could anyone here translate?

Cyril Drevet (TV journalist working for the french motor show called Turbo) says he went to PD and met the staff. He says : - there's still a lot of work  - all things that were supposed to come out in march (beta, announcements, ...) will be delayed - he (his personal opinion) doesn't think the final version of GT Sports will be released in 2016 - GT Sports will be heavily oriented to e-sports, to be "the" race cars esport game (targeting EVO and stuff). He's NOT saying the beta would be released at the end of the year, he just doesn't know when it'll be released, but definitelty not in march.

For the record, Gameblog's history with rumors is very poor.

True. But Drevet is not working for Gameblog, he's a guest in this podcast.  His main job is Turbo : http://www.turbo.fr/

Sony should really intervene with that studio at some point, that the studio working on this massive franchise only has about 110 employees is a complete joke, they should have at least 160-200 imo.

Source? That would be pretty cool as it would probably also mean new footage.

Sadly, we both know why they won't for now. Polyphony has been a huge moneymaker for them despite development timelines. Plus, from what I understand, Yamauchi is pretty much given free reign over there. If he doesn't want anymore people Sony won't force him. They really don't want to step on his toes. It's the same reason why Sony more or less let's Naughty Dog do what they want. When you have a studio with people running it that is as successful as PD and ND, you really don't want to piss them off. Until PD really starts screwing the pooch, Sony won't touch them. I've personally been saying for the last couple years now that Sony needs to force PD to branch out into other genres. They could still do GT, but one-trick-pony studios shouldn't exist under a publisher as big as Sony.

I don't necessarily think that they need to branch out in other genres, if this is all they want to do, then let them do it as long as it works. What I do think however is that they need to ridiculously update their production pipeline. 3 years, that's how long the time between new GT's should be and no more "hey we'll release the next GT on your last gen system after the next gen system is already out". And those games should be marketleaders not only in sales, but also in features, content and execution and not lag behind the competition as GT has been in the last couple iterations, as far as I'm aware. Doesn't matter if they need to hire 100 new people on a permanent basis for that, this is worth it.

I mean I think what MS is doing with their racing franchise is absolutely stupid and they're digging its own grave by just not giving people a chance to even want a new entry before one is announced, but Sonys/PDs approach isn't better by any stretch of the imagination. Good thing I'm not into these types of games, otherwise I'd be so pissed at what they're doing with Gran Turismo.

I will see if I can also find some unbiased previews after I watched this. :P

Game Informer seemed to like it and Insomniac tweeted IGN's preview. Which I'm assuming means they liked it as well.

Yeah, I'm to lazy to go out and collect the previews after all, what I've seen seemed very positive though.

What I'm basically getting from the previews is that the game is a mix of familiar and new. It looks gorgeous. Some dialogue is cringe-worthy but the old humor is mostly intact. The game play formula is mostly the same but it's fun. Returning weapons aren't just from the first game. Some are from more recent entries. A few weapons are brand new. The game is forgiving but the intent of the game seems to be a pleasant experience instead of a trying experience. They enjoyed what they got to play.

i already know what to expect from a R&C game so i know i'll love it.  i was just curious how much is old and how much is new content.  seems like a decent mix to me.  more than a remaster but not a reboot either.   i'll enjoy it but i kind of get the $40 price tag too.

haha. nice joke. some people are actually hopeful
R&C could sell pretty well actually, but yeah this hope for these franchises to return because of that seems naive. I find it especially stupid when people want Naughty Dog ro return to their PS1 or PS2 IPs.
