what is your definition of pretty well in this case?Honestly R&C is one game where I have real difficulty pinpointing a realistic sales range, simply because of the movie and its potential influence on the games popularity especially with kids.
Денис Тулупов @tulupowdan Mar 8I hope this is just something he said as a cover up, so the surprise at E3 will be bigger, cause otherwise this will be hugely annoying even for someone like me who isn't a huge GoW fan. Honestly if this stuff is becoming such a common occurence for Sony they should create 1 or 2 more AAA teams to fill in the gaps that all these superlong devcycles are leaving, I know it's not that simple but the PS4 is ruling the market, they should be using the money coming in from that to invest in the longterm health of their gaming business, which includes building a stronger and more reliable first party portfolio.
@corybarlog Hi Cory I would like to know when will anon new game from Santa Monica?

@tulupowdan I wish I knew, but it's just too early to tell.

Oh, come onnnnnnn. Even now it's too early? What have they been doing there at SSM? I hope they atleast SHOW it in some shape or form at E3.

Who knows what he's doing. But they've already said that they are working on a new God of War and even if they are rebooting the whole thing with a new mythology it's not like they have to reinvent the wheel in terms of what kind of game they are making here for that. I mean MS bought Gears of War in early 2014, hired that one dude that worked on Gears before, completely repurposed Black Tusk studio, managed to put out a Remaster/Remake of the first Gears and have already shown Gears 4 which is supposed to release holiday 2016. And SSM isn't even sure when they'll be able to reveal their next game, what the fudge is that?
He was just coming in late 2013. Was just putting together a team of some sort. Wonder how long that'll take.
Aside from that, we are pretty much 2.5 years after that. In the next 1.5 years, I would expect to hear about something unless there are problems.

And SSM isn't even sure when they'll be able to reveal their next game, what the fudge is that?A while back, Verendus hinted that God of War might not be what they're actually working on. At least, not a God of War title in the sense we've come to expect it. When talking about future titles late last year, he mentioned Barlog's project and said it was "God of War". He purposely used quotation marks on only that title. As if to say, "yeah... sure.... God of War is what he's doing.... let's go with that". Barlog had also said, in his little blog about coming back to Sony, that his project was going to be huge. Now, I doubt that Barlog's slip up during the first PSX and Santa Monica's admission that what he said was true was some kind of semi-elaborate cover. However, taking all three of these things together, it's sounding very possible that the next game is indeed God of War but something on a bigger scale. We already saw them try to expand their horizons with Ascension and Sony seems keen to have their studios evolve and try new things or increase the scope of their projects.
That is of course assuming he's not just fudgy with the guy, which I'm doubtful about especially with this new video series that they just started to highlight the creative people at SSM. Looking at the comments of the first video people are already taking this as a hint of an upcoming GoW4 announcement and I can't imagine SSM didn't expect this, so I don't know why they'd make a video series like this now if it eventually just leads to another huge period of silence.
Santa Monica Studio
But even if God of War 4 is announced at E3 and hits spring 2017, I still think Sony could use a couple more AAA teams, maybe Sucker Punch could get a second team or they could try making a second team within SSM again.

GOW 4 should be announced at E3 and released next March. They've basically had 2 full years up to this point, unless he pulled together a team in like a few days, which then it would be at most 2.5 years. Another year would not be unprecedented.
That's what they did with Ascension.

Another year would not be unprecedented.I just think 2016 is too crowded. Last Guardian, Horizon, and GTSport all around the holidays leaves no time for GOW marketing.
So yeah, I would not be surprised if it got shown at E3, and released next March.

Who knows what he's doing.his team is most likely assembled from the remaining of stig's team that had their project Axe'd. early 2014 SSM's new IP was cancelled, he probably just took what ever staff he needed from that team, and the rest got laid off.

There is nothing acceptable about this for instance, because remember MS and Black Tusk aka the Coalition had to do the same thing, started around the same time and managed to unveil their game by E3 2015. So SSM taking until 2018 to even unveil their next project would just be a sign of utter incompetence assuming the game isn't an absolute revolution in terms of Hack & Slash.QuoteOriginally Posted by ChobelI don't think you remember but they spent years making their Space Sci-Fi IP that they had cancel while firing nearly half the studio along with the lead director resigning. They had to restructure and move their entire studio premises along with re-hiring all the talent needed to even begin production. After all that you have to give them another couple years until 2018 to announce their AAA PS4 GOW project.
What a joke, +4 years to develop a game? Get your shame together SSM.
Well hopefully the whole GoW comment was just a way to confuse people, though I must say that some people's defense of SSM possibly not unveiling their game this year on Gaf are pretty ridiculous.yeah it wouldnt be acceptable for SSM to fudgy announce their first PS4 game by the time people would already be speculating about PS5. it should be announce this E3, with a 2017 holiday release at the latest. by that time Cory would have had 4 years to work on the game. even for a new IP that is more than enough.
