Quote from: Legend on Dec 06, 2016, 06:27 PMUncharted 4 was revealed with a CGI teaser, was their first PS4 title, and had odd development changes.

Uncharted 1: E3 2006 reveal, Nov 2007 release-1.5 years
Uncharted 2: Dec 2008 reveal, Oct 2009 release-1 year
Uncharted 3: Dec 2010 reveal, Nov 2011 release-1 year
TLOU: Dec 2011 reveal, June 2013 release-1.5 years
Uncharted 4: Nov 2013 reveal, May 2016 release-2.5 years

U4 is not like the others. I'd bet 1.5 or 2 years max for TLOU2. Summer 2018 lock it in!
Generation 8 development is not the same as PS3 development, I thought we knew that by now.

Quote from: DerNebel on Dec 06, 2016, 06:40 PMI think you're overestimating Sony. Where was the same warning for Dreams or Detroit Become Human? And like I said above, development probably halted for a lot of these two years. Seriously guys don't whip yourself into a frenzy expecting a summer 2018 release here.
Completely different developers who have historically taken a lot longer to develop every single one of their games than ND.  ND has all the control in the world on development and reveals of their games now.  I can guarantee it wasn't sony who decided to reveal TLOU part 2, it was ND.

Pretty sure ND can't just go and tell Shawn Layden how he has to present their game, if Sony didn't feel it was necessary to say that the game is super early in development then they wouldn't. Seriously you have nobody but yourself to blame for being disappointed, when this game is inevitably not going to come out in summer of 2018.

And while we're at it, I btw wouldn't be the least bit surprised if even the UC4 DLC didn't come until the second half of 2017.

I really think you just need a devil's flute to shake off all that jade.

The word you're looking for is "realistic", I'm being realistic.

Except you think I'm gonna be disappointed if it doesn't come out then.  I honestly wouldn't care at all.  I know exactly how hard it is to develop stuff for games as I do 3D environment art. And yes we have heard multiple times that ND is largely the ones who get to decide a lot of what goes on at the studio.  They even said themselves that sony was not pressuring them to make TLOU Part 2.  It was Neil's and others at the studios decision to do it.  They easily could have done a new IP if they wanted.

What are you rambling on about here? Nobody said anything about Sony forcing them to do TLOU Part 2. What I'm saying is that they wouldn't say this thing is super early in development, if it wasn't for a reason. Stop ignoring what Sony is openly telling you.

Here's Shu saying the same thing:

Okay. Not to keep going on, but I'm just giving an example of Sony letting ND and a lot of their developers have a ton of freedom. Cause you said they couldn't tell shawn layden when and how to announce, but if ND isn't ready then ND will tell them to hold off. And Sony will listen.  They have a lot of freedom is what i'm saying.

We are just thinking 2 completely different things based off them saying very early development.  A year and a half left still means early in development to me thats all.  Plus I have a lot of faith in ND's release schedules even if developments are harder and longer in this gen.  Doesn't mean it is for ND.  They had a lot of learning for their PS4 pipeline for UC4 and creating an updated PS4 engine.

We'll will just have to agree to disagree. :-P

I did not say "when", I said they can't tell him to say it's still early in development and he'll just up and does it, cause making that announcement when it's not really necessary can create unwanted expectations among fans.

But yes at the end of the day we'll just have to wait and see.

Eh I could see March 2018 potentially.  They usually release in March.

I think it'll come out in March 2018. Sony should be more cautious with its release dates because a delay of one game can lead to another getting delayed. This already happened with Ratchet & Clank + Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian + Gravity Rush 2.
