Yeah Chris Sawyer was crazy. Started working on the game as an excuse to visit theme parks.

Lumberyard finally updated to allow support for bigger maps. 

Yay!

But apparently using them means the terrain will look all triangular.  All they did was stretch out the height map.

Not yay.... 

Wait, something else is amiss..  But it does seem to be like 95% of the cause.  Does seem like something else is going on.

You can import stuff.
Not sure how well that would work.  If it would resize the heightmap to fit the program, or what.
