And i restarted my computer. Its been doing it for 10 mins now....

Hard restart. Still wont launch.

I've played about 10x more online games than single player. Although 90% of those were with the same one person

Build cities and play nice. Go for a culture victory.

Culture victory is the worst to go for. Its by far the most complicated.

I guess it was easy in vanilla.

Anyone want to give a quick run down of how i should play this game?

Deal with barbarian camps as soon as you know they exist
Try and get to at least 3 cities as soon as you can
Always research pottery first and get a shrine so you can get a good pantheon
Science is the most important value to work towards, as if you're ahead in science you can go for any victory you want
When you have three or four cities build a library in all of them and get the national college built in your capital as soon as you can
Trade away all of your spare luxuries

Civ 5 is one of the best games ever. It's one of the only games I play over and over again.

I thought I owned it.  And I do!  I haven't played it yet though.  

Kind of expecting it to not be my thing.
