Finally finished Gravity Rush Remastered. A very enjoyable game mired by poor combat and the overbearingly repetitive combat scenarios. First let's talk about the good. The world is so unique and interesting and you want to explore the districts of the cities as they are so well done. Lots of awesome verticality and hidden passageways and the last district is just awesome. The art style is great and the comic book manner of the cutscenes lends itself very well to the game and world. The characters that inhabit this world are fun and engaging and you cannot help but love Kat, Syd and Raven. Kat is just really really great. She could become a great mascot for Playstation if GR2 does well and maybe if they can get her voiced in english too. The story was also good too, full of mystical elements and a bit of intrigue and kept me wanting to do the next mission. The traversal system is just pure fun especially once you level up her powers and it is just great to soar through the air and around the cityscape. There is a real nice progression at the start of the game traversal does feel more difficult but then it becomes really intuitive after the upgrades and a bit of time with it. Now onto the bad: The combat. By the end of the game I was getting fed up of fighting the nevi, and the fact practically the majority of the fights take place in the air you are basically using the same attack every time; it gets boring. The ground combat is not good too, there is no variation. It does look better in GR2 but I still need to see more to be convinced. If they can nail the combat in GR2 and make the world and enviroments more interactive and destructible that would be fantastic. The game is at its best when you have the freedom of the world at your disposal. I now see the potential of the Gravity Rush I.P and hopefully they can fulfil it with Gravity Rush 2.
