Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Arrives on April 26, 2016 – PlayStation.Blog

It's annoying though, even if it's just a month.

Probably doesn't mean much, but if RAD gets the chance to make a sequel to The Order and makes considerable improvements, then kudos to them.

Yeah, I just decided to ignore that pointless comment. ;)

Oh and guys you're kidding yourself if you're thinking that the delay situation was as bad back in the last generations as it's nowadays, the simple difference in  fidelity of games nowadays makes this whole thing a lot worse.

I'm not so sure fidelity makes as big of a difference as people are thinking it does.

Yes, games look much bigger, but so are the studios that make them.  From like 20 years ago where a teamoof 10 people likely could be considered AAA, to now where a team of 100 is almost on the low end of AAA.  Teams of 1000 are rare, but they do happen.

Additionally, those 10 people were vastly more likely to be building everything from scratch.  Whereas today tools, game engines, and more are often borrowed from other larger studios.
Sure, it makes a difference, bit it isn't the difference you are implying.

Secondly, thats a false notion.  Games can only be delayed if a release date is announced.  It has nothing to do with the time It takes to make it.

Yes and during the PS1 era these 10 people could pump out a new game in sometimes less than a year, whereas nowadays even 200 people teams need 2+ years. Make no mistake, the difference is massive.

As for the bolded, that's not true and you know it, you could at best say that a game can't be officially delayed if no release date or window has been announced but internal delays can and do still happen. I mean do you seriously believe that NMS was initially aiming at a June 2016 release? No of course not, that game might have originally been aiming at a freaking 2014 release date. And sure the time it takes to make a game influences how much it can get delayed, if you can pump out a whole game in 9 months with a handful of people, then how much can you actually misjudge yourself? Especially considering how much simpler not only graphics but also physics, enemy AI etc. where back then? I reckon a lot less than when you're making a game to meet todays AAA standards.

Edit: Oh and since this whole conversation started with ND, I'd like to remind people that prior to this ND has only ever delayed 1 game and that was TLOU by about 6 weeks, they've now delayed UC4 twice and overall by at least 5 months now. You're really just ignoring reality if you're telling yourself that this hasn't been getting worse in recent times.

For the next 2 weeks Driveclub plus the Season pass are 13€ on the EU PS store, I think it's time that I'll cave in on that.

darkknightkryta

Random question, do games ever get a second season pass?

Not yet I think, but SFV probably will, I wouldn't be surprised if Driveclub got one as well.

managing and cordinating a team of 1000 is like a million times harder than a team of ten which is the real source of schedule delays.  so the change in fidelity has everything to do with delays these days.

Not "everything".
Vizioneck only has 1 person and has been delayed.
