The horseriding was the best part.
That is definitely one of the best bits

Quote from: kitler53 on Dec 08, 2015, 10:09 PMi can't believe what i'm reading.  the shipyard was one of the most impressive parts of U3 for me.  shooting while swimming was fun.
It felt really clunky to me. Don't get me wrong, I still like that bit but its not as strong as the rest of the game imo. Mainly because of the setting

Lol this looks like fun. Reminds me of Smash Bros!

Whoa. This looks way better than the first season.

That does look fun. I wonder how the smash community will handle this.

Quote from: DerNebel on Dec 07, 2015, 12:09 PMHas anyone else noticed in the last couple days that with every game that is announced as a console debut game etc. on PS4 people are immediately starting to assume NX as the only "logical" other choice for it to come to later? Especially for japanese games? Makes me want the NX to be unveiled and be what exactly nobody wanted and consequently fail just to see all that ridiculous overconfidence fall completely flat.

I just don't get it.  The Wii U and 3DS came after two beasts and they had bad third party support.  They're not going to suddenly all jump in.

It reminds me of EA promising the world and then giving nothing.  Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

All these games fanbase are on X1/ps4/pc anyway so they'll sell like shame even if 3Rd party support it at the start and then they'll all abandon again after a year.

BTW to anyone that cares about dragon quest.  Livestream event on January 13the. Expect new footage of dq11 there!

Well, Japanese games will just flop on the XBO because the audience is not there at all, so what else is there? Also, Shu clarified that a game making a console debut on the PS4 may come out on other consoles. Doesn't necessarily mean that the game will definitely come out on other consoles.

Oh smite coming to PS4 is big.

However with data mining it's pretty common to get false positives. I mean obviously smite is going to eventually come to PS4 anyway, but maybe not as soon as this suggests. Or not. Who knows? Clearly not me.

Some info plus gameplay on Gravity Rush 2

11 minutes of Gravity Rush 2 gameplay, details - Gematsu

Personally this comment caught my eye, looks like they are really serious about this, though I'm not sure how they expect to do this.

QuoteThey want to make Gravity Rush into a series that will not fade even after 20 years.
Also we still don't know if the anime will be an OVA or a full series, do we?

Edit: But if they're really serious about this Gravity Rush thing then I'll just feel strengthened in my thought that Studio Japan is the 1st Party studio to watch this gen, they will rise from the ashes.

But they've always been great!

Shadow of the colossus, ICO, Puppeteer, Knack, Locoroco, Patapon, Echochrome, etc.

Their 7th gen console output was laughable for a studio of their size and they haven't made a game that can actually be considered "big" in forever.

Perspective man. I bet that if the other big games mentioned had been released with the same circumstances as Puppeteer and GR1 (both great games) they'd have suffered a similar fate. And I bet you many people will tell you they were better than Santa Monica's last big game..who seem to be even slower than them right now.
Besides this is part of the studio, the games are unique and pretty much always have a cult dedicated following but also a limited appeal, limited budget and thus limited sales. I don't expect that to ever change

They've certainly made lots of games, last gen as well.
But for the games they've made themselves, the most notable of which for home consoles is probably Puppeteer, which isn't that notable....
To be honest, I would say Knack by itself was more notable than pretty much every PS3 game they had.

Their most notable games last gen were games that most people don't really give them credit for, like Demon Souls.

Also this is the first time I've heard of genDESIGN, which is made up of some of Team ICO's people.

The main thing about Japan Studio was that for large parts of the last generation the studio was under horrible management, everybody did what they wanted and nothing was getting done. It wasn't until the former head of SSM (funny that you mention them) took over the studio that things started to change on that front. Sure their first own console releases under the new lead (Knack and Puppeteer) weren't exactly smashing successes and they kinda bet on the wrong horse with a lot of Vita support, but things are clearly starting to look brighter with GR2 and TLG coming to PS4. Add to that rumors of "big" JRPGs being in development at Sony Japan, not to mention all the collaboration work they're doing and I think you're doing good in keeping an eye on them in the next couple years if you like japanese games.
