I wonder/worry the scorpio will have poor backwards compatability. Getting rid of esram will sure make it cheaper at least.

Based on the rumored specs, Microsoft should be able to release the Scorpio at $399.

"because developers are not allowed to ship a project scorpio only sku..."
I'm still not sure i 100% believe ms will enforce that but i will say this,.. if every game is required to ship on xbox one then scorpio has a fudge load of power that is essentially useless.  the difference between ps4 and ps4 pro games is generally underwhelming.  scorpio will be the same expect the hardware to get to a geneerally underwhelming outcome is even bigger and more expensive.

"no esram"
i'm no developer but that makes me think it won't be so simple, easy, or cheap for developers to release for xbox but them do optimization for scorpio to make the scorpio version shiny.

"checkerboarding"
lol.  not that i really care but after all the marketing of "only scorpio will be a true 4k machine" if most games use checkerboarding the internet is going to grill them.

Will be hilarious to see that hype train crash and burn, should this turn out to be true.

The Xbox community is completely whipping itself into a frenzy already expecting the Scorpio to be a true next gen machine, completely ignoring the tiny detail about all games still having to work on the standard X1.

You forget the doc saying to get 60fps you will need to do CPU animation in 30fps and interpolate with GPU graphics in 60fps :D

We've seen checkerboarding derided on all major forum so if this is true MS only have themselves to blame if they get flak:

I would assume when 3rd party developers make games for the Scorpio, they will scale up from the Pro version since their architectures are more similar (especially the RAM)?

They changed this picture...

Project Scorpio | Xbox

The most powerful console ever, featuring 6 Teraflops of graphical processing power, true 4K gaming, and compatibility with Xbox One games and accessories.

Regardless, the damage is done and MS should be held accountable.

So I  when I was reading the Scalebound cancelled thread on Gaf someone mentioned that Scorpio was facing problems and might not even release this year... I didn't think he'd be right...

I could be two for two with my outlandish threads! First Nintendo paid online and now scorpio delay.

Also it's crazy how much XBOX fans are denying this leak. Somehow lots of people now believe Scorpio is 8 teraflops. Will be interesting to see if Scorpio is $399 and just their version of PS4 Pro or if it really is a $599 super machine. If I was exclusively an XBOX fan, I'm not sure which one I'd prefer.
