Imagine all games the PS4 got were HD remasters of PS3 games, cause that's basically the best case scenario you can expect from developers in terms of effort being put into the Scorpio/Pro versions compared to the standard X1/PS4 versions. How would that be worth calling it a next gen system? As long as devs are not putting in the resources to actually take full advantages of the Scorpio it won't deserve the title of a next gen console, it's that simple imo.

But yeah that people are that eager to jump on a new console is really telling. It was just as telling with the Wii U, pretty much up until the NX was first talked about you could find so many Nintendo fanboys adamantly defending the system, proclaiming how it had the best and way more exclusives than the other systems (I remember a thread of mine on the chertz where I suggested that the X1/PS4 could be a better secondary console than a Wii U for a person that already owns a PS4/X1, because these systems would end up with more exclusives or at least titles not appearing on the other system than the Wii U, people were butthurt as hell in there), but the moment the NX became a thing everyone suddenly moved on from the Switch even though they defend it so much before.
this whole "gaming beyond generations" talk that MS is putting out will be interesting to see. sooner or later XB1 hardware will be outdated, and will be dropped. i wouldnt consider scorpio a "next gen" console if all it plays is base XB1 games at higher res/framerate with slighly better graphics. i agree, if devs aren arent taking advantage of scorpios power to its fullest i wouldnt consider it a next gen system either.

people were willing to jump on the NS two years ago when the NX was officially said to be in the works. and despite what a lot of nintendo fans say, the droughts the system had were massive. the WiiU was a failed system deservedly so.
