Quote from: darkknightkryta on Jan 25, 2017, 09:45 PMSo I  when I was reading the Scalebound cancelled thread on Gaf someone mentioned that Scorpio was facing problems and might not even release this year... I didn't think he'd be right...
I really really doubt that they would delay this.

Duh, Legend. You break a non-disclosure agreement by disclosing false information. That's how this stuff works.

Also it's crazy how much XBOX fans are denying this leak. Somehow lots of people now believe Scorpio is 8 teraflops. Will be interesting to see if Scorpio is $399 and just their version of PS4 Pro or if it really is a $599 super machine. If I was exclusively an XBOX fan, I'm not sure which one I'd prefer.
I'm telling you a ton of Xbox people have got it in to their heads that this is a fullblown next generation system, that it'll come with these new AMD chips while still only being $400. I don't think MS really understands what they got themselves into with announcing this thing so early, comparable to the Switch expectations are currently completely spinning out of control and assuming those Eurogamer specs are true then MS can basically only disappoint people at this point.

But like the Banana I really doubt the system will get delayed, it's too integral to their 2017 strategy for MS to let it slip.

Both because secret sauce.

And the allegations that Digital Foundry is fanning the flames of the console wars are laughable, as well.

fanboys amaze me. honestly i still am impressed with the base PS4 and what it can do. the graphics it is pushing with the likes of Uncharted, The order and Horizon are really stunning. to me the PS4 Pro is a great upgrade mid gen.

what amazes me the most about fanboys is how they completely are willing to sacrifice the worth of their purchase and its longevity for the sake of the console war. i have enjoyed my PS4 a lot, but i sure as hell dont feel it lived out its life yet, and i sure as hell dont want it to be replaced anytime within the next 2 years. the PS3's library for example has A LOT more games. and the PS4's hardware still has a lot to offer. let consoles have a steady and decent life frame. 4 years is really too short.

for those who want this to be a next gen console, it really says a lot about their purchase and what they think of their current console. if it doesnt satisfy them, then maybe they should be looking at another platform, not just hoping extra power will solve their issue.

I saw someone say yesterday that DF only released this video to counter the positive Scorpio "news" that was going around. "What news?" you might ask. Well of course he was talking about the extremely huge news item of Phil Spencer.... better get ready for this... tweeting about playing his first game on the Scorpio and how the games played "great", the console looked "right" and how he was "proud" of the team.

Actually after typing this out I think I agree with people, after this monumental piece of amazing Scorpio news DF really had no choice but to release a damage control video... ::)

Exactly. Extra power isn't going to solve the lacking exclusive library of the platform. Which consoles really need to set themselves apart. If the only thing you really have to talk about is a new piece of hardware that serves as an incremental upgrade, that really should be a big red flag. You're not actually in it for the games at that point. You're cheering on a company that is failing you for the sake of your own pathetic sense of pride.

The thing is people are saying it'll be a next gen console even though all games would still work on the standard X1 to me, which is absurd to me. Imagine all games the PS4 got were HD remasters of PS3 games, cause that's basically the best case scenario you can expect from developers in terms of effort being put into the Scorpio/Pro versions compared to the standard X1/PS4 versions. How would that be worth calling it a next gen system? As long as devs are not putting in the resources to actually take full advantages of the Scorpio it won't deserve the title of a next gen console, it's that simple imo.

But yeah that people are that eager to jump on a new console is really telling. It was just as telling with the Wii U, pretty much up until the NX was first talked about you could find so many Nintendo fanboys adamantly defending the system, proclaiming how it had the best and way more exclusives than the other systems (I remember a thread of mine on the chertz where I suggested that the X1/PS4 could be a better secondary console than a Wii U for a person that already owns a PS4/X1, because these systems would end up with more exclusives or at least titles not appearing on the other system than the Wii U, people were butthurt as hell in there), but the moment the NX became a thing everyone suddenly moved on from the Switch even though they defend it so much before.

I wouldn't say they'd delay it, but I wouldn't be surprised if this downgrade was chosen instead.

Are you referencing CCIE from GAF? IIRC, she mentioned that employees giggled when she asked if the Scorpio will come out this holiday season.

Even so, Microsoft will likely not delay the Scorpio. I think what CCIE heard was the result of the Telephone Game.

its not just exclusives. its third party games in general. PS4 and XB1 have some truly great games, but every gen does, and the number that PS4 and XB1 have still arent comparable to PS360 for example. the PS4 and XB1 still have a lot of life in them, developers arent really reaching their limits yet, some devs have yet to truly test them like Rockstar for example. with increased dev time, it makes sense for the generation to last longer, not shorter. if xbox fans really want a new generation so quick, it says a lot about how much they like their current console. it does show a red flag. or it shows how they are completely willing to follow their company of choice for the sake of a pathetic console war.
