Sources say that the secrecy extended to keeping regional offices out of the loop as well. So much so that PlayStation's India operations for example, were negotiating deals with local distributors and retailers to invest in and set up exclusive PlayStation brick-and-mortar stores with an eye of having 100 of these in India by 2028.

Apparently not even SIE India was aware they were ending disc production.

and yet everyone at era was discussing the end if discs for years now.    if i remember the poll correctly a majority thought that next gen would not support discs.

To be fair PS5 games were ~20% physical. Some 70 million games. 

And the 80% includes digital only games. A lot of first party titles were more like 45% physical.

so real talk.  is this all going to blow over or is this going to do real damage to ps?

my local target has 0 disc games for Xbox, about 10 for ps, about 10 (carts) for switch 2, and like 30 for switch. 

even if ps6 had discs who is going to sell them.  they are already practically gone from retail.
