I guess I'm about 2/3rds of the way through the main storyline.

According to the Platinum guide, it takes 125 hours to platinum. But I think i'll come very short of that. I'm only like 40 hours in, and I've done half the list already and the other half doesn't look bad.

But I'm also intending to do Dawnguard and Dragonborne storylines.

Chants of sennaar

Saw it in a game show and thought it might be my type of thing, but then I learned it's a full language based game.

Pretty cool but some flaws.

Better than returnal?

Lol.

The voice acting in this main questline scene is even worse than usual Skyrim, and that's saying something.

Pretty close to done with the main storyline.

Have to decide to go after the stormcloaks or imperials.

I finished Chants of Sennaar.

It has 186 words yet I can only remember ~5 of them. It's crazy how much this game abandoned language learning and just started doing everything in English. (Edt: whole game is about language and glyphs but how you use them changes) Pretty fun game yet the first half is so much better than the second half.

Hapax is scary since players really need to learn the language and Chants makes me feel a bit more confident in that choice. The translation tools in Chants feel awesome when you first start but they are way overpowered.

The game is a 7 out of ten. Maybe an 8 if I focus on the first half. Would recomend for any puzzle fans. It's like return of the obra dinn but with words instead of death.

i've seen multiple sources call it "zelda like".  to be honest i don't see much in common with zelda,.. unless any game in the top down perspective that includes melee combat is a "zelda-like".  the game is all about combat and they did a great job with it.   it demands precision and mistakes quickly lead to death but they also did a great job at minimizing the amount of backtracking you'll ever had to do when you die.
I tried it. It just didn't click with me for some reason.

that's okay,.. to each their own.  I just finished the plat.  I chatted up my coop buddy about it and he thinks it has parallels to tunic.

I haven't played tunic yet but it's been "on the list" for a long time.  he made me really want to play it even more.

no, I liked returnal more.

returnal is clearly the bigger and more impressive game.  it was extra fresh being in the a 3rd person perspective.  the story surprised me especially in that it was so perfectly matched to the gameplay loop.

death door was highly polished for what it was but there are a million isometric games you could compare it to,.. many of them also great.   death's door excelled at really hitting the right balance in gameplay: hard but fair, death was frequent but not punishing, level and enemy design varied but distinct, and they actually had a pretty robust end game for those going for the plat.

it was great but not innovative.

returnal really felt like something new to me which is hard for a guy like me that has been playing for about 40 years.

I don't know what it is about Baba is You but I hardly get a sense of achievement after completing each level. I've 100% the first 3 zones and completed 5 zones but can't remember having a great feeling of achievement as I would with other puzzle games. I really like the game and it's a really clever so I can't work out why ???

I had a similar feeling. Stopped me from doing all the extra stuff, but maybe I'll go back.

In my case I think it's just the same issue I have with most sokoban games. Some levels let me feel clever but so many levels just feel like I'm exhausting the possibility space. Solving the puzzle feels too much like work instead of play.

Skyrim update:

- finished the main storyline. It's fine.

- like a third of the way through the Thieves Guild.

Had a weird reaction yesterday. So the guards will face you and make random one liners. It's the usual thing but for some reason, the way that the guard turned around and talked gave me a weird vibe. It felt a lot less scripted than it usually does and there's not really a reason why I don't think.

Playing through The Talos Principle again. In the past I've spent many hours solving the puzzles and revisiting lots of levels in search of the stars over multiple playthroughs. Even with all those hours pumped in and every puzzle space recognisable the instant I step into it, 95% percent of puzzles I've either forgot or vaguely remember how to solve so it's still fun to play. Even more fun than playing The Witness again.

Legend

Yeah sounds like a much better replay than the witness. Plus it has such a great story.

kitler53

I dunno.  I started a replay once.  I bailed after a couple hours.  I found that I remembered everything and the joy just wasn't there.   it was like 2 years for me which maybe wasn't long enough.

I've given thought to replaying fez again. it's been like 11 years now.

Finished the Thieves Guild story line. It's so lame. The first half is about a secret organization that means nothing to me. And then the second half is just randomly generated thief jobs.

Have to fight the war yet, do a bunch of the Daedric quests and do the companions. Then I'll have the platinum. And then it'll be time for the DLC.
