Quote from: Aura7541 on Jun 26, 2016, 06:54 PMDid I actually say that? I said that censorship is the bigger problem on principle and I explained why because it not only applies to Tokyo Mirage, but many of Nintendo's other games, too. Ultimately, your argument is a strawman fallacy.
You replied to me with your stupid censorship battleship in a fudgy sales thread, to a comment of mine that was in direct response to the games sales performance. Are you out of your mind?

QuoteThe burden of proof falls on the person making the positive claim. You claimed that the people calling developers out on develop are a loud minority and your reasoning was nothing more than faith (which by the way, the definition of faith is belief without evidence). Do you or do you not have evidence to back your claim? It is not my job to do the legwork for you.

But there are people who do not approve of censorship and by your own admission, that group of people are vocal. As a result, your claim that the "real world" does not have people "fuming" over censorship is 100% false. Your second part is another strawman because I used "misogyny" as an example of a buzzword. I'm afraid you're living in a bubble considering your frequent fallacies and faith-based logic...
Now you're just being pedantic, yes of course there are some idiots that care about this shame, the whole point of this real world thing is to say that it's not a big deal to most people and if you look at the large majority of the gaming media and community you'll know that that's the case. Look at this petition for Fire Emblem to not be censored in the west, it has 8000 signatures, that's it.

Petition · nintendo: Do not censor
Fire Emblem: Fates
for it's worldwide release · Change.org

Look at this video on Bravely Seconds censorship and this channel about gaming censorship in general, do these numbers indicate to you that this is a massive deal to people?

Even Xenoblade Chroncles X, which was probably the most prominent case of all of these has only managed to reach 190k views (and those are just views, that doesn't mean they cared in the end) in this video, which is nothing in comparison to the size of the gaming community.

And if you then look at the Amazon user rankings of these games then even they are also very positive, suggesting as well that this thing is not that big of a deal to the general gaming community.

Or take a look at reddit, KotakuInAction, a sub that is among other things dedicated to this whole crud has 65k subs, r/Games on the other hand has over 700k, r/PS4 over 280k and r/gaming over 11 million.

Beginning off with a red herring... not off with a good start... For the rest of your response, the problem with that argument is that you need to prove that the anti-censorship audience only uses Change.org and that outlet, only. Sure, 8000 signatures isn't much, but you cannot say only 8000 people are against censorship because not everyone uses Change.org. Similar reasoning applies to the YouTube views. You only have raw numbers, but there's nothing to compare it to. A poll, however, will provide a more accurate picture because it helps you gauge one opinion vs another.

All in all, I am still waiting for your evidence. Remember, the person making the positive claim needs to provide the proof, not the skeptic. That is what burden of proof is and there's nothing pedantic about it. It's just proper argumentation and responding with a verbose reply that is reliant on exorbitant extrapolation is not.

Two strawman fallacies, attempt to put burden of proof on the skeptic, reliance on faith-based reasoning, hasty generalizations, a red herring, and ludicrous extrapolation... Yeah, your track record has been rather abysmal...

EDIT: And what do you know, a poll on Debate.org that shows 80% of the respondents are against censorship in video games! Quite a loud minority, isn't it? ;)

I think that's quite enough. Let's not start using language that borders on personal insult just to take a stab at people in an "innocent" way. That's not what this forum is about and the last few debates around here have been a bit heated and toxic. If you people can't talk to someone here as if they're a friend and instead talk to them like an bumb, just don't bother posting at all.

I'm actually quite calm about this and if you read my comments, I didn't make any personal insults or anything that borders on that. However, I'll stop. DerNebel, you may have the last word if you like.

Other people would disagree. Know when certain language is unnecessary to get your point across and serves as more insulting than informative. You personally being calm is not the only thing that matters. I can piss someone off with a smile, too. I'm also not just talking to you. DerNebel needs to keep himself in check as well with how he talks to someone.

Fair enough. I'll put this to rest.

Quote from: DerNebel on Jun 26, 2016, 05:23 PMTons of games are altered in some way when being brought over into new markets to better represent the standards and norms in these markets, that's called localization, that is normal and since the blatant sexualization of clearly underage girls doesn't fit with the standards and norms of western markets, one shouldn't be surprised if these things are altered as well.

Minimum Legal Age of Consent - Female

That's what people often say, yet it doesn't match reality. Mind you, notice that even some asian countries are more strict than all european countries

Unless by "west" you mean "only the US". Then again, the US has had several "idols" of their own, but it's okay to fantasize "underage real girls" instead of "underage videogame girls" right

The mod team was planning to post something as well, but you beat us to the punch.

Your post is pretty much exactly how we feel about this. Thank you for posting.

You're not getting moderated or even a warning. But please don't turn this forum into a GAF/chertz like environment  ;D

DOUBLE DOOM

27/Jun/2016
'Doom' (-43%) keeps its hold on top spot and secures a second No1 crown in this weeks' All Formats chart.

The main challenger comes in the form of 'Fifa 16' (-4%), which continues it's week on week climb up to No2. 'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' (-22%) remains at No3 for a second week while 'Overwatch' (-29%) drops two places down to No4. Several new releases arrive this week but only 'Rocket League' shoots straight into the Top 10 at No6. 505 Games take on publishing duties for the physical launch of the hugely popular Sports-Action title. This collector's edition bundles in all the DLC for the title alongside exclusive new vehicles. Elsewhere in the Top 10 a resurgent 'Ratchet & Clank' (+18%) climbs three places to No9.
Outside the Top 10 'Minecraft: Xbox Edition' (+17%) benefits from the release of a new favourites edition (inc. 5 DLC packs) helping to push it up three places to No14. Wii U exclusive RPG title 'Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE' makes its mark at No18. NIS America's 'Odin Sphere Leifthrasir' also lands for Sony formats (PS3, PS4 & Vita) at No23. The release is in fact an HD remaster of the original 'Odin Sphere', which was released on PS2 in early 2008. 'Mario and Sonic: Rio 2016 Olympic Games' (+890%) is propelled back into the Top 40 thanks to the arrival of the Wii U version, pushing the title up to No30 . A host of Nintendo's most popular titles receive the Selects treatment this week, with 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D' (+999%) at No34 the chief beneficiary. This week's final new entry is PS4's 'Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival' landing at No37. As the name suggests the title resurrects the classic football franchise that began way back in 1989 with the original Kick Off.
