There's nothing wrong with reporting MAU's, it's when you strip away all other information that it becomes silly. Especially if your account system is integrated with your new OS that you're trying pretty dang hard to force on people, sure you don't have to get an Xbox Live account with Windows 10, but they do want you to get one, I've been playing some Solitaire and shame on my Windows 10 laptop recently and even there I got Xbox Live pop ups.

Ps4 sells 23k this week in Japan. I think that's amazing. 9k up on last year's 14k. A pretty big % increase YOY. With some really big hitters on the way the ps4 will be absolutely fine. 4m is possibly by the end of the year.

And 21m ps plus payers. This will definitely hit 30m and maybe even 40m eventually. Sony have struck Gold (pun intended).

My main concern is can the PS4 maintain its lead over the PS3 in launch-aligned LTD sales. At this point, the PS3 is selling rather well and catching up.

It's still maintaining it's lead on ps2. So yes. Plus you have the neo, and psvr and a 250 dollar price point to go. It's going to comfortably outsell the ps3.

Are we thinking the XBO S is going to be big?

On reddit (lol) I've seen lots of people think it will turn the tides and push XBOX infront of playstation for the generation. Obviously that's not going to happen, but will it be big? On Amazon its preorders are still going pretty strong.

Lol. Not it might give it a decent monthy boost but it will not turn the tides. I looked yesterday and the ps4 black ops bundle was ahead again.

The graph suggest ps3 will pass soon before ps4 passes again for the rest of this year. The big battle will be first half of 2017.

You know usually I would be like, you know what the x1 could pull off a Kinect. But not anymore. If anything Sony have the Kinect of this gen in psvr. And unlike last gen when Playstation at least had the move to counter MS has nothing coming to counter at least not anytime soon.

So x1 has the slim and then the scorpio. Ps4 has the neo and probably a slim too. Once the neo is a big upgrade and cheaper than the scorpio Sony benefits more.

I can only see the gap increasing. A positive for the gen will be the ps4 + x1 will be miles ahead of the ps3 + 360 launch aligned come the end of 2017. Core console gaming will be in rude health.

I am curious about psvr though. Will it have a Kinect effect of say 20-30m units sold and maybe 12-15mil additional ps4's pushed. Or will it have a wii like motion control effect. And push 50m+ sales.

Obviously anything is possible but my money is on a Kinect like effect.

The preorders for the Xbox S are in response to a better design, different color, and much larger HDD. It actually went down quite a bit in the hourly rankings after the E3 hype cooled down. It's simply going to replace the old Xbox SKU as evidence by the fact that it largely already has on the hourly rankings as the old SKUs are falling away. This isn't going to change anything. Slight possibility that Xbox wins August NPD if PS4 has a bad month thanks to the preorders. That Xbox wins a single month thanks to a trump card or circumstances would be nothing new and nothing to get excited about. I think some people around here might be doing what they always do every time the wind takes a slight shift.

Was the reason given it being the cheapest 4K bluray player on the market? I've seen that argument being made on reddit a couple times, overall reddit just isn't a very good platform for sales discussion.

No way. It'll make the XBO win August but after that the PS4 will be ahead every month. Especially with the Neo, PSVR and possible PS4 slim releasing this year.

PS4 is doing very well in Japan right now. We'll have to see if it can hold out until the big games start to arrive.

I had a look on amazon uk and xbox one s is down at #100 right now and PS4 is owning XB1 which is strange for amazon UK, normally xb1 is ahead.

Safe to say xb1 s isn't gonna do too hotly in the UK.

Uncharted 4 is still at #2 actually, only behind the Dualshock 4
