Wonder what the dudes motivation is, if this is real.

Quote from: Legend on Mar 23, 2016, 07:18 PMWait, what if the screen isn't used for showing the game!?!?!?

Could simply show buttons.
Then why not just have buttons? That would be a significantly more expensive solution to a problem that doesn't exist imo.

Or it could be used like the gamepad.  On-controller display  + earbuds for sound with TV display as well.

Cute Pikachu

It looks mature but looks really uncomfortable.

Could give some cool applications for virtual console.
Display SNES controls on the controller.
Display N64 controls with all 6 buttons.

That's what I thought it would be.

They can make it backwards compatible with every single device in Nintendo history.

Games can potentially do fun things with it.

It's a gimmick.

Makes it look like a smartphone and those are popular.

And the biggest reason of all...

Is how non gamers see controllers. One reason the Wii was so successful was because it had so few buttons. With this, Nintendo could make casual games with just two big ol buttons on the screen without sacrificing the core gaming crowd.

Dr. Pezus

Looks ugly as fudge but I look forward to seeing it in action

I see, well looking at the trademark pics it looks like they are looking to do both, display the game on the screen and also have digital buttons, kinda like how some mobile games do it.

But even that looks like it would work pretty poor with the design of the controller, as you would basically reach over the sticks with your thumbs to even reach those buttons.

At this point we're just speculating but what reason could an employee of Nintendo ever have to tell a person, who he should obviously know is going to post that info on twitter, that this is real?

I've finally caught up with the gaf thread!

The patent sets up that the sticks may be used to select buttons, ala weapon wheels.

I really need to see this officially announced to know if it's pure stupid or another Wii thing that catches fire.

They wouldn't say it was real, but they wouldn't say it was fake either.

Wouldn't they? I mean this is apparently just someone talking to his friend (whom he knows is going to share the info he gives him with his twitter followers) and not Nintendo commenting in an official capacity. Why wouldn't he lie, if it meant possibly stopping this rumour from spreading? I know for sure that I would lie my dog off, if I was in the same position.

We also have

Invalid Tweet ID, or 712717150264274945 is valid and twitter just doesn't care at the moment
Which is another sign it's fake. He's a Nintendo Treehouse guy.

EDT: his tweet was deleted.

Hope it is fake.
Nope.

Only thing we can hope is that it has some super secret functionality we don't know about.
