Fishing mini games, fun or waste of time?

I'd never buy an actual "fishing game" because it isn't fun.   ...but If I love the game, it's somehow fun having a peaceful thing to do to break up the action and i always end up fishing for hours.

so i'll give you two conflicting opinions

i like games (especially in the adventure/rpg genres) having mini games as something to do that are not strictly required.   GWENT is a great example.

...but i don't care for fishing.   i've never played an engaging fishing mini-game.
