Those two at launch would immediately put the PS5... at the strongest Sony launch lineup ever?

I can see it, PS4 users won't transition to the PS5 at a higher pace than ever before by itself.

I think they were 100% sure in June that Spidey was going to make launch, that's why they put the date on it. Its probably going very well without need to crunch and if things go wrong they can easily throw more people onto it, as its a smaller team in Insomniac currently working on it.

IF Demon's Souls is launch, I think they were probably only something like 80% sure in June, worried due to the impact of covid. They don't want to have to delay a launch title so they didn't put a date. But if things are going as planned then it can still be a launch title and they'll confirm it when they're 100%.

not sure why everyone here is Soo excited about demon souls propping up the launch lineup.

yes it was good and yes it is beautiful but it still is just a remaster.  it improves the launch line-up but not by that much.

It's a remake. Not a remaster.

And a good looking one at that.

It's been highly requested.  Beats playing the original at 30 fps.

i'm a playstation fanboy.  i plat'd the game on ps3.

i still don't see this as a huge release for ps5.  it's really exciting for a small segment of the playstation audience but not a high profile release for the masses.  that's not a troll.  that's my honest opinion.

It's not Uncharted big, let alone Spiderman.

But, for the kind of gamer who picks up a console day 1, it is a big deal.  It probably generates more excitement than CoD does on Era, despite the fact that CoD will probably sell 5-8x more on PlayStation alone.

Not to mention, DS came out before the series really became popular.  It practically came out before the PS3 really hit it's stride.  So a lot of fans who got into the series afterwards missed out on it.

Even as someone who has the game, I'm really excited to play it with what is at least a new can of paint.

Millions of people have discovered the Souls series after Demon's Souls and never played this first entry. Also the Souls series is particularly popular with the core gaming audience who tends to make up the majority of early console adopters, so giving that part of the audience such a big reason to get your console early on is valuable.

Also there are two more things about the Souls community that make these games very useful exclusives to have: They are disproportionally represented in online games discourse and they never shut up about Souls games. Bloodborne is still to this day regularly being brought up as a huge reason to get a PS4, that's the kind of word of mouth you want to get for your games.

Well the fact that you dismiss the hard work of all of the people at bluepoint and Japan studio by calling it "just a remaster", saying that it would be propping up the launch of the PS5, that's just rude tbh. I was hoping to give you the benefit of the doubt if you were actually trolling. Yikes. Well I know you're the kind of person to parrot about lazy devs and ports being bad anyway so I'm not surprised.

If this is a launch game it would be a huge deal, it would be a headline launch title, hardly propping it up. Its a huge game, the Souls name has grown to be massive, especially amongst the gaming hardcore who are the kind to buy consoles at launch. Remakes are big now and Bluepoint are the best in the business.

(I agree with kitler)

Hyped to replay this since it might be the first soulsborne I finish.

I think Kitler's overall point is right somewhat, its still somewhat niche and its a remake rather than a new game. I just hate when people diminish the work of devs, and calling a remake a remaster is just rubbish, they're such different things.
