probably 40k for jp
and 60k for NA and EU
so 180-200k week after Imo
Well don't forget that 180k - 200k was probably its baseline before the order boost, with the boost from the order still lasting and the new DQ H boost I'd guess it'll be at least 220k still

Dec. 28, 2013: 4.2 million
Mar. 2, 2014: 6 million

Difference: 1.8 million (64 days)

Jan. 4, 2015: 18.5 million
Mar. 1, 2015: 20.2 million

Difference: 1.7 million (56 days)

So it has matched last year's start even with the huge Japan launch. Great, this suggests it'll have a nicely higher baseline this year
Also tells us that a price cut now would be mad

From GAF.

"Just announced by SCE Australia that the PS4 has a 60% marketshare."
Worldwide or in Australia?

Also, last year included the Japan launch (320k+), but this year had normal weeks from Jan-Feb (~15k average --> ~120k sold). So a 200k deficit right there. Must mean it's up in other parts of the world.

Yeah, probably about 250k the order week, perhaps a bit more. Drop off would've been small due to DQ H Japan boost the following week. Not long until we find out exactly how big that boost was.

i guess i meant boost to Feb NPD.

250 for the week WW sounds about right to me too.

Second years are supposed to be much better than firsts. A price cut only when sales go down is the wrong way to look at it.

were there other small markets that it hadn't launched in prior to japan's launch.  i thought parts of asia-pacific were later launches too.

...would be up by default.

Yeah but as kitler said a some of that will be due to new markets. I think PS4 will be down YOY in US as well. PS4 being up in Europe seems a safe bet.

Actually, thinking about it now, if XB1 has a lot on the shelves then PS4 may well have 50% market share now

Japan was one of the last, really. At least of the major regions. Japan is down despite having like 1-2 weeks last year vs. ~9 this year.

Yeah, it will be much better when they cut the price when it needs a price cut (in September). Cutting it now wouldn't do much. Look at XB1's price cuts last year and tell me which one was most effective

Dr. Pezus

WiiU ~9m
XB1 ~11-12m

I think PS4 is still about 0.5m from getting 50% marketshare but it's very close!!

Looking at VGChartz I see PS4 selling <50k per week in Europe but 60-70k in NA...makes no sense at all. Europe should be higher than NA for sure. It's a beast here

Bloodborne will push it over 50% for sure.

The ones when it had already started to build up momentum, not the price cuts trying to turn that momentum back into the positive.
