It will be 4.1m by years end.  Next year you have RE7, RDR2, GTS, DQ11, FF7 and KH. 
That's just to name a few.  It will easily do 1.5m next year.  It will be a full 12 months of the slim and pro selling too. 

2018 I expect a cheaper price and more games. 

2019 you'll get more but also gta 6. That will be big.  Ps4 will probably get a monster hunter too in the next 2 years.  I just can't see any possible way it doesn't sell 2.9m over the next 2 years. 

People are way too negative regarding ps4 in Japan.

Remember when Nintendo fans were arguing with me that Nintendo owns Japan? I said then ps4 will more than double wii u.Man, stupid fudges and good times

From okami @gaf.  Basically including digital ps4 owners at this point of the gen have bought considerably more software then the ps3 owners did.  8 million software sales so far this year.  Very healthy.

Yakuza 6 sells 60% of its shipment, 216k units sold, 360k units shipped.

The Last Guardian sells 55% of its shipment, 70k units sold, 130k units shipped.

More than 15 million physical PS4 games have been sold in Japan, with around 8 million sold this year.

We can't do a proper comparison with the PS3 as there was no software tracking that far back, and the best we can do is compare it to the data we get from the yearly Top 500/1000 of the time.

Anyway, in around 34 months PS4 sells 15.1 million games, in 38 months, which is the best comparison we can make, PS3 sells 15.7 million games, in the same timeframe Vita sells 11 million games.

Also Dead Rising 4 not on Dengeki, but given Xbox One software sales it must've sold around 2k

Oh nice. I always presumed that PS3 was doing a lot better with software but that shows it isn't. Although when the launch alignment gets to FFXIII that might change.

not sure. their next main game is the FF7 remake, and they are cutting that up into parts. so im not sure if they would have the time and resources to do FF7 and FFXV1 and release both in a matter of 4 years.

Doubtful. Square currently has DQXI, FFVII Remake, and KH3 on its plate along with smaller projects. I don't think FFXVI will be out until late 2020/early 2021, so PS5/PC will be the best bet.

Whether Square will release it on the Scorpio is up in the air. The XBO will be way too weak by 2020, but the Scorpio may not have a large enough userbase to warrant a port. Not to mention, Xbox fans are generally not interested in JRPGs.

Yakuza 6 ships 500k+ in Asia. 360k of them were for Japan.  These numbers include digital.  Good start for Yakuza 6. Hopefully they sell it and get another shipment. It will definitely hit a million but will the west be needed?
