So far, it's looking good, though you can see that the PS3 gets two really huge bursts later on. Not sure if the PS4 can maintain its lead, but it can track ahead if it maintains a higher baseline.

Just imagine if the PS4's library catered to the Japanese audience from the get go. Overall sales would be much higher by now.

Yeah.  It will be a really interesting comparison to keep track of.

I was looking at that chart and if I'm reading it right ps4 has until June next year to hit 4.5m. It might not get there but it's definitely going to be very close at least.  So despite the massive ps3,bump from the big price cut,  the slim and FF13 ps4 can weather it.

The release of the firm's new slim 500GB and 1TB SKUs saw Xbox One sales rise 989 per cent week-on-week.  The Xbox One had a 71 per cent share of the hardware market for the week ending September 24th, according to GfK data obtained by MCV. That's an increase of 76 per cent year-on-year.  A new slimmed-down PS4 arrived earlier this month, but sales have so far been slow. PlayStation 4 had a market share of just 19 per cent last week, with unit sales declining 66 per cent year-on-year, although sales were up 22 per cent week-on-week. When the launch weeks for PS4 Slim and the 500GB/1TB Xbox One S are compared, Microsoft's were stronger to the tune of 361 per cent.

That's a week-on-week increase. The percentage looks impressive on paper, but we don't know how much the XB1 sold the week before.

The data in that article is probably right but lack of context make it seem way better than it is. Being announced way in advance meant a lull in sales that dipped pretty low especially just before launch.
Example;
A)  if the console was selling 10 each month and then 15 after Slim launch, that's a 50% increase MOM and YOY.
B) If a console sells 10 a month and then 2 each month because they announced Slim early. At Slim launch it sold 15 that month of that's a 750% MOM increase and 50% YOY.

Both are pretty much the same outcome but one could seem a lot more impressive, guess which one relates more closely to the Xbox One S

Healthy growth for Fifa in the UK and the PS4 looks to be starting to run away from the X1 version in spite of the offficial bundles.
