Made a thread of charts about ps4 this week in Japan outselling the xbox 1 lifetime numbers and I tell you that the salt is real.

They can't just accept it and move on.  The lengths they'll go to damage control.  At least it's entertaining.

Talking with Xbox zealots about Japan is pointless, I just get agitated by the fact that they simply put the blame for the Xbox brands failure on japanese nationalism rather than MS, which is BS. There are more than enough western companies that do well to great in Japan to show that the japanese are not hostile towards western products. Sure they have very unique tastes in many regards including gaming but if you appeal to those tastes then you can have success with a western console over there too.

MS was laying the groundwork for that in the first half of the 7th gen and was definitely seeing first successes with that strategy, but that apparently didn't go fast enough so they pulled support for the market and the result of that can easily be followed if you look at japanese Xbox sales as well as developer support nowadays.

Well said DerNebel.  But as I said I find it entertaining.  it's just so hard to damage control but they're so persistent haha

Great week for ps4. King of Japan and Persona 5 and Utawarerumono showing really healthy sales.  Before that it was PES and BEASTERIA impressing.  Next week it's Fifa 17.

Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Sep 21, 2016, 04:38 PMSince sell through was so high. I think it's possible that a lot of people bought PS3 version instead, but it will be interesting to see what it will pull next week.  If it can pull another 30-60k more copies, that'd be crazy good.
Persona 5 did the exact middle ish of my range.
But then again, it was a pretty big range.  :o

Aura7541

Also, previously, the Persona game that had the highest LTD sales was the first game at ~391K. Persona 5 is just short of 400K in two weeks. It's possible that the PS4 version alone can surpass Persona 1's LTD sales, though that might not happen until like next year.

50k this week is exceptional for ps4. Hopefully it stays above 40k next week.

Interestingly, the PS3 slim had the higher second week than the PS4 slim. However, it also had the larger drop.

From hiska-kun on gaf.  If I'm reading this correctly ps4 has until mid point of next year to hit 4.5m and stay on track with ps3. Basically it's going to be either ahead or a little behind and that's the big ps3 push.

When will the doom mongers on gaf and chartz finally get it into their heads, the ps4 is tracking very well in Japan.

So far, it's looking good, though you can see that the PS3 gets two really huge bursts later on. Not sure if the PS4 can maintain its lead, but it can track ahead if it maintains a higher baseline.

Just imagine if the PS4's library catered to the Japanese audience from the get go. Overall sales would be much higher by now.
