SMM and Splatoon sales vs FE SMT sales are a crime
If SO5 and P5 also sell less than BO3 and Battlefront/F4 then Japan is truly dead, regardless of selling 10k consoles or 100k or 1 million consoles

Quote from: Xevross on Dec 30, 2015, 01:39 PMGood lord. WiiU is going crazy this holiday in Japan
Irrc the Gamecube was around 3.5m at this point in the lifecycle where as Wii U is just under 3m.

This is off the top of my head so I maybe wrong. But basically the console had a poor start and even though this year is up over last year it's not really an achievement when overall console sales are still very low.

Nah, FE sales even reaching 24k is a crime.

And P5 will sell significantly better than those titles, SO5 maybe not, it's kinda hard to tell, it will definitely do better than FE though.

Geez, look at the 3DS dropping. And what do you guys think, will the PS4 in its 3rd year manage to sell 2.5 times as much as the Wii U in its 3rd year? Maybe even 3 times?

Rorono

I am not as confident in P5 Japanese performance as you
Will do well in NA (for NA jrpg standars anyway) but the habits of Japanese PS4 users have not been very good (or Wii U for that matter). The question is whether the people who are still going to make the jump to ps4 in 2016 will change that or not

Always better to look at the monthly or yearly chart for Amazon. Also important to keep in mind that Gamestop is where it's at and Amazon is only <10% of the U.S. market for video game console sales.
Even though it 10% I think it's representative of the market. Amazon is online retailer who services the entire country.

Xbro

I think P5 should sell at least 300K in Japan. Not sure of anything beyond that. There was a discussion in the Media Create when Splatoon first came out which would do better.

#24 PS4 COD (-7)
#25 PS4 SW (-10)

#34 XB1 Gears (+12) (back to $349)
#64 n3DS XL (-20)

#94 PS4 Standard (+5) (now $339)
#97 PS4 NDC (re-entry)

So Xb1 has fallen off a cliff now the deal ended, PS4 held much better when its respective deal finished.
The PS4 was also competing against a $50 price disadvantage from the 20th through 26th and yet, it held up pretty well. In contrast, the XB1 has slipped dramatically when price parity has been reestablished.

I really wonder what was the point of SMTxFE in the first place? It was quite random.

I'm confident in Persona 5 and Star Ocean 5's sales. The Persona series has gotten a lot more recognition and exposure since Persona 4 thanks to P3P, Golden, Arena, Q, DAN, the P4 animations, and P3 movies. SO5 may have a harder time getting recognition because SO4 wasn't good, but Square will put some marketing muscle into its game. Also, the PS4 has gotten some good bundles in Japan, so I won't be surprised if we see a P5 and/or SO5 bundle(s).

I can't claim to be objective when it comes to Persona 5 but I expect it to hit like a bomb when it launches in Japan (relatively speaking of course), they've been blasted with Persona 3 and especially 4 for years now and I simply can not imagine Persona 5 selling less than 500k copies in Japan (and I'm actually thinking it'll go significantly higher), I really feel the series has grown that much since its last mainline entry. I mean before DQXI was announced Persona 5 was Famitsus most wanted game pretty much every week (PS3+PS4 combined, which I should mention is also what I'm talking about with P5s software number), Persona Q, a spinoff on a system that had never gotten a Persona game before sold almost 190k in its first week on 3DS and even freaking SE is acknowledging Persona 5s threat to FFXV by asking what people in Japan would buy if both games released around the same time, I refuse to believe that I'm imagining this, Persona 5 will be big in Japan, really big.

I've made this prediction some time ago, but I still think Persona 5 will sell 2 million+ copies world wide (even though Atlus might fudge me on that by ignoring Europe) and become one of the best games of the 8th gen, many people are just still sleeping on this title.

Cute Pikachu

So XCX is at 240k NA due to the amount of people how beat Volkampf.
I'm gonna say 232k NA to avoid multiple files pera copy.
So 230k 40k 145k 13k which equals 428k at least without Germany.
Easily over 500k

Yeah I know its been bad overall but I think WiiU needs to take its victories where it can.

It seems to me that the only reason this boost has happened is because of a well priced bundle which gives great value. Perhaps its time for a price cut, Nintendo!

Shu Yoshida also named Persona 5 as one of his top 10 games for 2016. Hopefully, that will translate to not just bundling the game in Japan, but also overseas.

I could have sworn the bundle included both SMM and Splatoon... well I'm baffled as to why its selling like this then

I'm not sure there's a huge point in bundling the game in the west, what Sony should do imo is take up publishing of the game in Europe to make it a 2016 release here as well, since Atlus themselves apparently can't be bothered to. Maybe even do some localization for the bigger european markets (Germany, France, Italy and Spain) to expand the games sales potential over here.
