Quote from: NotBananaKing on Nov 03, 2015, 11:53 AMbecause he flat out lies? xbox doesnt have the most games, doesnt have the most exclusives and doesnt have the most anticipated game of the year. that goes to fallout 4. and halo 5 isnt the greatest halo ever made, not even the hardcore fanboys say that.
I was just talking to my friend about this. Literally everything he says is the opposite of the truth. Unbelievable.

This could be terribly wrong but IF, and I repeat IF, the WW attach ratio of Halo 5 is as bad as in the UK, it struggled to reach 1.5M FW even including digital. Again, If.
Yeah they'll be shitting it,  if their biggest money maker has seen such a big decline especially with such a colossal budget behind it.  I remember seeing adverts for Halo 5 on TV back in February.

Halo 6 is going to focus heavily on microtransactions because they'll not be making nearly enough money off this otherwise.  Their portfolio of gaming ips has lost a lot of value if halo sales have really halved.

If I'm buying a console, I'm buying an Xbox?  We'll have to wait to see what NPD says about that.
On the other hand, who is buying a PS4 for not games?
Well this is MS, they must be talking about Halo games.  "If you're buying a console for Halo games, you're buying an Xbox.  Xbox is the platform with the most Halo games, the most exclusive Halo games."
It all makes sense now, they took away exclusives from the XB 360, and now this one has them all!

Quote from: DerNebel on Nov 03, 2015, 09:32 AM, and probably the most anticipated game of the year in Halo 5. If you're a fan of Halo, if you've ever played Halo, you know how special Halo 5 is. If you never have, the rich story with Locke and Chief and what's been created — I can tell you, I've played through the entire campaign. It's the greatest Halo ever made. It's stunning. It's worth the investment. That game alone is worth the investment."

"most anticipated game of the year in Halo 5" Wait, we can play Fallout 4 in Halo!!!  If that's true, then I completely understand how it's the best Halo.  If not, you're a liar, and I haven't been hearing about this stunning, rich story at all.

Wow. This is really turning into an embarrassment.

Microsoft tells us how Xbox One will win the holiday and why consoles aren't dying page 3 | GamesBeat | Games | by Mike Minotti

Sure he was asked for a sales pitch, but seriously why does that dude sound so arrogant?
Most games? False

I have to assume that quote is being taken out of context, but even then it's still so bad!

QuoteGamesBeat: We're starting to hear some rumors about what Nintendo might be doing next. Honestly, nobody knows what they're going to do. But is it a worry? We're going to have this system come out in the middle of a normal console cycle. Maybe the console cycle is going to be disrupted in a weird sort of way? Is that something you'll have to deal with?
Greenberg: I'm not sure what Nintendo's doing. I hear the same rumors and stuff that you do. I guess we'll react to that when we know more. Nintendo's always been innovative. They've always differentiated in their own way. They've always danced to their own tune, if you will. It wouldn't surprise me if they do their own thing when the time is right. What they've done is unique and different. How they'll compete with us remains to be seen.
GamesBeat: One final sales pitch? I'm going to the store and buying a console for this holiday. Why am I picking Xbox One?

Plus, if you like Forza or Tomb Raider or any of the other big titles like Fallout or Call of Duty, we have them all. On top of having the premier online gaming service in Xbox Live. If you want to play with your friends, that's the place to play. That would be my pitch. And we'll do it at a great value. Starting at $349, we have some great holiday bundles. I don't think you'll regret the purchase. The other commitment we make to you with backward compatibility — over the next year we'll continue to innovate and improve on the console month after month, just like we've been doing since we launched Xbox One.

Second half of his response is a lot better IMO.

NeoGAF - View Single Post -  Halo 5 sales in the UK (Excludes digital sales)

Quotehttp://www.gamesradar.com/halo-5-gua...uk-box-office/
QuoteIn another win for businesses who sell to bedrooms instead of cinemas, Microsoft has today revealed that Halo 5: Guardians outdid new Bond outing, Spectre at the UK box office on their respective opening days. The Xbox One title made £7.7m on day one, compared to Spectre's £6.3m.

UK only of course.

Can this please not become a trend? We had something similar with MGSV and Avengers I believe, comparing game and movie revenue is just pointless.

If you take the average price as £45 then that's about 170K copies. Of course, digital is more expensive, that will include all the special editions and possibly bundles, so 170K is the roof of sales digital included. I'd guess maybe 150K first day with digital then, so good digital sales for the week surely.

Well it's fun since games are a much larger industry, yet movies have a better standing in popular culture.

"Wow JW is the fastest movie ever to reach $1 billion, only took a couple weeks!!!!! That's a crazy amount of money!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Pff, large video games reach $1 billion in their first day."

Average price will definitely be higher than £45 since special editions will have an abnormally high percentage of sales for day one. Plus we really have no clue what's counting towards this number. REQ points, Halo 5 controllers, etc.

No clue if we can accurately guestimate with this number :(

We know that cumulative sales are definitely above 150K. If we take REQ points, Halo 5 controllers, microtransactions, etc. out of the equation, then the maximum would be around 190K. I had the physical version at £40 and the digital version at £45. The physical version accounted to £6 million which leaves £1.7 million. Assuming the digital game accounts for all the rest, then about 40K digital copies have been sold.
