Yeah. A buddy of mine tried it out, too. He was skeptical that the PS4 could pull off what was needed and worried that his glasses would cause discomfort. He's a big believer now. Said it's the real deal and now he can't wait until October. Said EVE Valkyrie was legit awesome.
People in front of me did EVE. The camera screwed up and was in the pilot's chest but the guy still loved the demo.

Dang son.  Color me interested.
How does OR compare to Gear?

How does OR compare to Gear?
It's a lot better.
Barely any SDE on OR (basically nonexistant depending on the game).

I really want to see the PSVR and see how it compares.

Seems like it's pretty comparable.

So I went to a local Best Buy and tried out the Playstation VR demo they had today. Having been a huge VR fanatic since Oculus first kickstarter'd, I own every single iteration of it and the PSVR was the only one I wasn't planning on buying, mainly cuz I'm a PC person. It was a seated experience, which worked well because the demo I played was the Heist game, which has you sitting in a car while shooting down people trying to get you. Here are my impressions. PS, I do not care about any of the politics or drama between any company, I just care about experiencing VR and will only compare the hardware itself.

Ergonomics: This was surprising to me, this felt extremely comfortable. It's heavier feeling than the Vive or Rift, but it sits on your head like a crown with the screen hanging in front of your face, no pressure is applied to your face at all, so it makes it feel great. Not the most secure setup though, so fast movements kinda jiggle the screen more the Vive or Rift. Also, the lack of built in audio is a real negative, as I hate having to deal with taking on and off headphones after putting on a headset, and very much love the built in headphones the Rift has. For me, personally the Rift feels the lightest and most comfortable, then the PSVR, then the Vive.

Tracking: The tracking was very good. It caught my quick movements and felt very natural, however the Vive has it beat in terms of accuracy. Although my Vive has random judder or controller drift sometimes, for the most part it is perfect pinpoint accurate. I think Valve did a great job with the lighthouse tracking. The Rift and PSVR feel pretty on par with tracking, which is fantastic, just not as accurate as the Vive in my opinion. Also, the Move controllers don't feel as nice as the Vive controllers. It always felt like I was holding two poles, not uncomfortable, but not as intuitive as the Vive controllers.

Screen: Knowing that the screen was lower resolution than any of the other VR headsets, I was surprised how great it looked. The colors are vibrant, FOV felt good, and I could barely see any SDE. In fact, I would say this headset has the least noticeable SDE to me of any VR headset. I will clarify though, that they did this by slightly "blurring" the screen. It felt slightly out of focus, I guess which was a compromise of either sharpness or SDE. I never thought about it when I was lost in the game, but the screen never seemed as sharp as the Rift, VIve, or GearVR to me. FOV has never been something that I notice very well, as every headset I wear still feels like a scuba mask, but I would say it feels the same as the Rift and Vive, but larger than the Gear VR. In my opinion, the Rift still has the nicest looking display despite godrays, than the PSVR, than the Vive.

Overall Experience: Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. The experience was very smooth, it looked very good, I was able to use my hands unlike the Rift, and the game felt very polished. If this is the VR headset that attains mass market, we are ok, no "poisoning the well" here, it is very comparable to the Rift/Vive. Not once did I notice any frame drops, it felt just as smooth as the Rift. On the Vive, I always notice when a game hiccups or drops in framerate. The only issue I had was that there was a LOT of loading. And unlike the VIve, which fades in the starting room or a loading screen you can look around in, on the PSVR it was just darkness, and it felt like forever between things. It can't really be helped being a console, but I think they need to really add something to show that the game is still loading. Considering the price and the game lineup, I really feel this is going to take off.

That's the first that I've heard anyone say it was slightly out of focus. I don't think he had it set up right.

That happens all the time with the rift. There's a reset view button right?

I didn't have any time to try adjusting focus, but I can see why he'd describe it that way. It's certainly wasn't sharp in the sense I could see pixels.

Reset is holding the option and ps button I think.

Mine was super sturdy. Kept on swinging my head around like a madman yet it stayed perfectly in place. Had to fix the headphones once.

nice of him to say.  glad he's at least reasonably happy with it.  i would have never purchased OR thanks to no having a gaming pc so for me it is psvr or nothing.  good to hear it gets a nod of approval from the man.

Apparently, the translations are pretty bad. I mean "Fidel-nii" -> "Fiddly"... wh-what...? ???

56 on Metacritic after 8 reviews.

Sounds like the characters had poor development, the story felt empty, and the gameplay was overly grindy with boring quests.
