Not too bad.
that was quite a turn around in 7 minutes.

my thoughts,.. only nintendo can convenience intelligent people to overlook common sense and get credibility to a shaming idea.

Quote from: Legend on Jul 26, 2016, 07:06 PMNo way will it be that cheap. That's the problem with doing a hybrid console.

The NVidia shield is $199 yet it's using the 2 year old version of tegra and is a simple console. If NX uses Tegra X2 and has a built in screen, even $249 would seem too low.

1 year old version of Tegra.  Came out Q2 2015.

QuoteWhile the Shield tablet features an 8-inch 1920x1200 pixel display, it can output 4K resolution signal to a television via HDMI.

In November 2015, the tablet was relaunched as the Shield Tablet K1 and the price was reduced to $200.

This will use a cheaper screen, and more expensive chipset.

I can't imagine Nintendo would use the X2 unless they could release it at a good price.  I'm expecting 200$, 250$ max.

Those controllers are not going to feel comfortable probably.

Eh it could be good, but nothing in this leak makes me expect it to be good.
Yeah, like Wii controllers on the side.

#ThatTurnAround.
I think it has a chance, Nintendo just needs to pull it off.  Whether they do.... that's a different story.

Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Jul 26, 2016, 06:47 PMEhhh, not really. It's basically none of that.  Not Wii U powerful, not a gameboy successor. The original PSP had TV out, and the PSP Go didn't have detachable controls.  So the PSP actually has more in common with this than the PSP Go.
PSP Go was an expensive alternative that didn't even do everything the PSP 3000 did.  It cost 90$ more while doing less.
"Would you like this system, it plays everything and costs 170$, or would you like this smaller one which doesn't play a few games, and costs 250$".
We'll have to see how Nintendo executes it for that though.  There's a lot of variables for all that.
They might be able to pull off 199$ with 10 hour battery life or better.   Will have to wait and see.
I said PSP Go because you can dock it to a TV and use a dualshock 3.  Regular psps can't do that.  That's what I'm referring too.  Also more expensive applies here greatly.  This hybrid will be expensive.  Nvidia doesn't play nice with manufacturers. It's why they're the only one using their chipset. They won't give Tegra to Nintendo for a cheap price.  You're looking at a 250+ handheld that will play games worse than the competing PS4 and Xbox One, which will most likely be cheaper than the NX.  Its also going to be clunky with poor battery life to be a proper handheld.

Aw shucks  :D

But no. I'm a stupid video game nerd who can enjoy how weird the system is. The average person will just be accidentally popping off the controls while playing.

Plus I just realised a glaring oversight in this plan. It's a portable that can be played on the big screen, buuuuuuuut it uses a dock to do that. AKA you can't just show up at a friends house and play; you'd need to think ahead and bring the dock. It's just as stationary as a home console and the portable nature is pointless. Should have used a chromecast type stick that was always with the system.

Nintendo plans a lot of stupid shame.

It sounds like it could end up being amazing.

Equally it could be WiiU bad.

Time will tell, I'm interested in it for sure.

Exactly. I was shocked the first page of gaf was so positive.

This thing could be Wii 2.0 when it actually releases, but the description is so bad sounding.

i still just can't get over the detachable controllers part.

no fudgy way i shove two wiimotes taped onto a screen into my pocket and call that a mobile device.

alternatively, no way i will play a home console with two one-handed controllers that are 2"x1".

lastly,. the middle ground is even worse,.. a console that isn't mobile or comfortable as a home console either.

Oh I don't think it sounds good. I think it sounds like it could be good.

But with Nintendo we can never know. It could end up setting off like Wii/DS and  become a hugely popular device. It could equally do as badly as WiiU.

The concept is weird and Nintendo can either nail it or mess it up horribly. I'm hoping they nail it.

That's what I like about it. The gamepad and 3DS to a lesser extent were pretty standard.
