the controllers are apparently detachable.  if one isn't careful i imagine they could be ripped off.  would suck for nintendo if their only prototype was broken.

Portable means it will be small.

That means 2 book-ended controllers will be small.

That means not fun to use when playing on the big screen.

To be full sized controllers means the portability factor is poor.

Overall....something has to give for this to work.  Functioning controllers or portability.
Didn't you say you had the controller, Mr. "Game Developer?"

Consider all that and what I said.

Though he's ultimately hinting that the leak is fake.

Both?

He made the mock up based on the description, but he also wrote the OP.

Because it sounds like it's basically a gameboy with TV out, and detachable controllers.  Which I don't really view to be that unusual.

I'm not really viewing it to be a home console that is supposed to compete with PS4/XBO, and failing miserably.  I'm viewing it as a successor to the gameboy that's powerful enough to push Wii U level games.

Wonder what the battery life of that thing will be in handheld mode.

The PSP Go is everything you just described for its time...

I fear all this stuff will just make it a bad portable. Expensive, short battery life, and not optimized for travel. Would rather a vita+ps4 setup with crossplay/crossbuy for everything.

Ehhh, not really. It's basically none of that.  Not Wii U powerful, not a gameboy successor. The original PSP had TV out, and the PSP Go didn't have detachable controls.  So the PSP actually has more in common with this than the PSP Go.
PSP Go was an expensive alternative that didn't even do everything the PSP 3000 did.  It cost 90$ more while doing less.
"Would you like this system, it plays everything and costs 170$, or would you like this smaller one which doesn't play a few games, and costs 250$".

We'll have to see how Nintendo executes it for that though.  There's a lot of variables for all that.
They might be able to pull off 199$ with 10 hour battery life or better.   Will have to wait and see.

No way will it be that cheap. That's the problem with doing a hybrid console.

The NVidia shield is $199 yet it's using the 2 year old version of tegra and is a simple console. If NX uses Tegra X2 and has a built in screen, even $249 would seem too low.

Those controllers are not going to feel comfortable probably.

Eh it could be good, but nothing in this leak makes me expect it to be good.
