Yeah you go downstairs not upstairs at the mini courtyard
Found Alfred and the lamp so I think I'm going the right way!

reading your posts are making me feel disappointed in this game.   if you noobs are killing bosses on your first attempts then this game is too easy.   i think i'm going to have to self-nerf myself again like i did in dark souls to get the challenge i deserve.

Killing him or making him fall.

Edit - You just need to kill him once... he won't respawn like normal enemies.

Meta down to 92 :(

Brought down by two 90s:

"Bloodborne is the kind of game that keeps you engaged with it long after you put it down, haunting you with a unique mix of hope and hopelessness, flaunting your own shortcomings and provoking you to overcome them through constant struggle, at the end of which awaits only more dread." - Softpedia

"The gameplay will not be for everyone, with the difficulty and repetition a potential turn off, but if you are looking for a new challenge, Bloodborne is a fantastic choice." - TheSixthAxis

And an 88:

"Bloodborne is the system seller for all dedicated gamers that don't already own a PS4." - GamesBeat

All glowing, but they brought the score down...

No boss so far has taken me anymore than two tries to beat but I will make an important disclaimer. I stumbled across the music box and read up on what the hell I need it for. That's how I found out that you use it against Father Gascoigne to make the fight easier. The molotov cocktail bombarment I used during the final phase of the fight I heard from DD. The Witch of Hemwick was plain easy but I think that's one of those fights where they cut you some slack so you can acquire the tool needed to use runes. Vicar Amelia I got lucky on. I was able to avoid most of her attacks by the skin of my teeth and for some reason she never started praying to heal herself so I didn't have to deal with that fight mechanic. The Blood-starved Beast became easy because I read up on what Pungent Blood Cocktails were for and it was recommended to use them during that fight so that he wouldn't focus on you. The upcoming fights, however, don't seem to have any such trick items I can use to make them easier. Plus, the game gets harder the more Insight you gain. So if the game is not challenging a super star of your caliber then just let your Insight accumulate.

I'm having a hard time finding a boss in Old Yarnham. Is he close to the hunter/gatling gun guys?

He's a bit further past them

You'll know you're getting closer because you'll start descending into the city through a big church with tons of those screeching enemies and onto the lower streets. The streets don't have nearly as many enemies but there are some werewolves down there. As you explore you'll start making your way down into an area with a bunch of burning crosses and into a chapel. You will see the Blood-starved Beast standing there at the other end waiting for you to get about halfway inside before it attacks.
