Can you give us a run down. The I'm out of 4G Internet for the month version?

"Hologram field of view is very limited, it's only in a small box, not immersive. Nothing like the demos. Only works when looking straight at the hologram. "It's not augmenting reality, augmenting a little fraction of reality. Which is still amazing, but Microsoft is promising science fiction""

MS have become masters of deception imo. Kinect, Milo, Star Wars Kinect, ambiguous PR and now this

So ms is pulling another kinect.

Kinda?

With both the major problem is that they're gimmicky as heck. For Kinect "Oh man I'm now a Jedi knight! That's been my dream for years!! AMAZING!!!" Then you get kinect home and realize "Oh, this isn't as much fun as I thought it'd be. I hadn't thought about how being a jedi sucks without actually holding a lightsaber, or moving, or having resistance against the blade, etc..." With Hololens it's "Oh man holograms in my house! I'm living from star treck!! AMAZING!!!" Then once the hype calms down you realize "Oh these aren't as good looking as I imagined. I hadn't thought about how the FOV is super small, lack of input devices, black color can't be projected, AR gaming sucks, etc..."

Both are Microsoft giving the consumer what they think they want, not what they actually will like.

But we have the technology!!!

(Mind reading electronics would fix a few of these issues. I think)
Now that I'm on a computer, expand on this!

Spoiler for without actually holding a lightsaber/moving:
Having a controller would fix this issue. But the difficulty with that is going to be that now we have the PS Move. Which means you're losing the benefits on having a controller. In order to have the best of both worlds, you need to know what the player wants. If they put it in their pocket, start tracking their hands. Something would probably be doable now, but it could still have issues.
Spoiler for or having resistance against the blade, etc:
Now I'm wondering how vibration would feel on a Move controller.
Or if some mechanism for vibration could be used to do this, if it hasn't been done already.
With Hololens
Spoiler for Oh these aren't as good looking as I imagined, I hadn't thought about how the FOV is super small, black color can't be projected:
This will either be limited by technology or physics, depending on how it's done. Should be okay though with better stuff.
Spoiler for lack of input devices:
One big difficulty is trying to map a 3D environment to 2D controls. One answer is having two 2D controls to make up that 3rd axis. Or even when there is 3D tracking, you're more than likely still going to be mapping a big 3D environment to a smaller one without losing points, that can be difficult as well.
I think mind reading stuff could be useful in knowing where the points are plotted, even if it's outside of the scope of the frame.
That's probably why they won't let the press use the "real thing" .

Move is great for swords and the like, but it still misses the "moving" part. Sure you can use a button, but you can't walk around with your actual legs. Half and half motion tracking/traditional game feels weird.

Vibration is better than nothing, but it doesn't all lightsaber battles. Your sword would still move freely through the enemy sword. What's needed is a mechanical arm connected to the move, that can apply a wide range of forces.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I LOVE the concept of AR. It's incredible theorizing society 100+ years from now where everyone wears AR 100% of the time. My beef is only with Hololens's execution of it.

Mind reading would work, but that's not happening soon haha. For now with the current Hololens vision we're stuck with voice commands and finger commands.

Oh that kind of moving!
True, true.
Yeah, I know what your beef is. :P
Unfortunately, there is that. :)
