Great post imo

it is a great post.

on a side not i find it hilarious that walking dead season 1 got tons of GotY nominations but the order is being lambasted for being a similar type game.

Ugh don't even get me started about TellTale... Their games are ok, but it's weird how they're loved while similar and better games get trashed on. I'm looking at you Heavy Rain!

i enjoyed walking dead season one (far from GOTY though.  And I'm sure I'll enjoy the order even more than it tomorrow.

it's just a weird standard to me.  telltale makes a story driven QTE filled game and gets praised for it and RaD does the same and gets executed for it.   if you don't like the genre that's fine,.. it's not a genre for everyone but why execute a game for what it isn't instead of what it is.   this is a feakin' cinimatic game,.. it'd be advertised as a cinimatic game so why are people surpised/upset that this is a cinematic game?!?!?

i like walking dead too,. i've played quite a few telltale games.  i've never been disappointed in their "lack of gameplay" or whatever the fudge RaD is getting flak for now.

It may not have a poor story! I can't wait to play it for myself tomorrow. Seems like my kind of game...well I hope so at least :P

Honestly I don't want to dampen your enjoyment but the story really was kinda... well it was missing a lot, maybe the collectables explain that stuff but what I've seen it was kinda meh, a sequel can be better though (if they get to make one after this, which I hope)

Btw this is the highest rated comment in the r/Games thread for the Orders reviews and I can't tell you how much this pisses me off, that guy is essentially happy that the game got low scores, not because the game did what it tried poorly but because the game doesn't fit into his definition of what a game should be, how dare this company try to make a cinematic singleplayer game that focusses heavily on storytelling.

the naysayers have been delusional. On N4g someone had the audacity to say the people who have been spewing hate for this game have been lambasted from the start. I told him to look at the comments. They were all, "I told you this game would suck" with 3:1 ratio of agrees to disagree.

Ludicrous Speed

I don't think anyone was expecting it to have a poor story as well. That really brought it down.

Yeah that sucks. The narrative really could have saved the game from some of the poor scores imho.

I hate it too. Here's a pretty good video about it.

Yeah. When you create a game that is cutscene-heavy or basically an interactive movie you REALLY need a badass story. There were key moments in the game where the developer clearly wanted me to yell "holy shame! no way!" but every time I just went "oh...wow. okay moving on". You can't expect those kinds of reactions without enough time spent getting us emotionally invested in certain characters. Every big moment felt like it was too soon and the story in general just had me going,"THAT was history's darkest secret? Really?".
