It stormed so bad here in Texas last night.

Woke up to the entire road and my driveway under water (along with my poor mailbox lol).

Had no electricity since 8:30 PM last night - electricity came back up at 9:00AM this morning.

It is 9:46 AM right now ;o.

Nice, we've been getting hit too. But flooding has been minimal in the area I live

It was pretty bad here - my trash can got washed away and I'm calling the waste services for a new one lol.

Also I've never seen so many lightning bolts in the 20+ years I've lived here.

It was crazy - and it reminded me of Hurricane Ike hitting us back in 2008 (the water and the devastation I mean lol).

I'm lucky enough to live on a hill. Yay!

I tweeted Spotify about a log-in issue I'm having with their app and what do they do? Start following me, naturally. That should solve the problem.

Oh my my heart just had a moment of racing.

On the dev build I tried out something that a programmer told me I shouldn't do, and naturally the programmer was wrong and it worked just fine.

Or so I thought.

Only a few minutes later I had moved on to changing something else, but the website started loading really slow. Like half the recent topics would show, and then the rest would pop up.

Originally I thought it was on my end, but testing sites showed the same thing. 10 second page loads. Some were even 30 seconds. I rushed and undid what I was warned about doing.

Ok, right? Nope, didn't change a thing. So then I was thinking that what I did broke the cache and that I needed to restart the server.

Off and on again should do the trick. However the server has been running for 150 days nonstop, and I would prefer to keep that count going.

Opened up debug tools and watched the bytes come in. It struck me as odd that large data portions of the site were loading fine. It was just one or two random elements that caused the hang.

Other tests were inconclusive, but 30 second load times are way too long to not fix asap. Couldn't figure out what was wrong so I went to restart the server.

Only suddenly it loaded in 5 seconds. Refresh. 2 seconds. Refresh. 500 milliseconds.

Out of the blue it had fixed itself. Still no clue what caused it.

One off fluke, server maintenance I forgot about, and a problem between the server and the internet are the most likely.

Of course I'm also not going to again try doing what I was warned not to do. Better safe than sorry.

Obligatory tldr:
