If you don't have to boycott them, why did you make that proclamation? You're not stopping shame, you're just doing what everybody else is doing as well, which is buying games they like, but you decided that you are a special snowflake that has to call not buying games he doesn't like a freaking "boycott" and that's actually close minded enough to want all games he doesn't enjoy to go away, because he feels he's the centre of the world.

I already said the proclamation exists because there are 0 exceptions from now on, a necessary measure given the current state of the industry. If I don't buy Bloodborne or Uncharted 4, yes, i'm doing what everyone else does, buying games I like and not buying games I don't like. But not buying MGS5 or Arkham Knight is indeed a "boycott", and one that I feel is necessary. The games will still sell buttloads of course, but anything I can do to lower the numbers is good.
And you keep missing the point. I'm not closed minded, quite the opposite. I don't want the games i don't enjoy to go away, I want the games I enjoy the most to not go away. And given the way things are, the only way to do that is to not support certain games whose success can only lead to other companies trying to mimic (as it has always happened in one way or another) those games.

I already posted months ago (last year I think) that I've gone through the death of almost all my favorite games, IPs and developers, and it's all because of these horrible modern trends in games. So even if some of them find their way into decent games, or decent games pull some of it off decently, it's no longer enough for me to be okay with it, it's still a death mark for the game as far a I'm concerned.

Maybe we should move this to the Bloodborne thread?

Why don't we make a new thread about the boycott?
how about we let Rorono boycott what he wants. It's no more ridiculous than any other boycott that people have done before. Like nintendo fans boycotting everything or everyone boycotting EA.

DYING LIGHT SHINES ON
09/Mar/2015
'Dying Light' (-48%) from Warner Bros and Polish developer Techland is still alive and kicking at No1 for a second week.

Since launch, it has managed to outperform other recent new IP from both Sony (The Order: 1886) and Take 2 (Evolve), despite already having been launched digitally a month ago. The big three of 'Grand Theft Auto V', 'FIFA 15' (-17%) and 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' (-56%) occupy the next three places. With a sales dip of only 10% 'GTA V' performs the best climbing to No2 ahead of FIFA 15 at No3 and leapfroging COD at No4.
Released two weeks ago, 'Dragon Ball Xenoverse' (-61%) drops two places to No5, while the Minecrafts both remain in the Top10 as the Xbox Editions are up three places to No6 (-14%) and the Playstation Editions remain at No10 (-12%). No1 three weeks ago, 'The Order: 1886' (-62%) falls three places to No7 ahead of this week's only Top 40 new entry 'Zombie Army Trilogy', UK developer Rebellion's updated collection of their 'Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army' titles for Xbox One and PS4. 'Evolve' (-35%) enjoys a fourth week in the Top 10, down one place from No8 to No9.

Stole from GAF.

QuotePachter has released his February 2015 USA NPD predictions.

Please read the Q&A before posting. Thanks.

Q&A:

Q: "LOL so Pachter gets paid to make stupid video game predictions? Where can I sign up?

A: Actually, Pachter's job is to release complex, thorough, and intelligent company analyses and evaluate whether or not they are a good buy for investors. Pachter primarily focuses around companies in the digital entertainment and retail entertainment sectors, like AMC, Netflix, Amazon, and Nintendo.

Pachter does an amazing job with his frequent, lengthy reports to clients and definitely, 100% deserves every penny Wedbush Securities pays him. Wedbush Securities isn't idiotic. They wouldn't have kept Pachter around for decades if he wasn't really good at what he does.

Pachter frequently discusses video game predictions in mainstream media and he releases USA NPD predictions to clients. However, these predictions are only made because Pachter likes to go the extra mile and it's fun to predict video game sales. Please remember that these NPD predictions are NOT Pachter's job, and the amount of work he performs in his real job is extraordinary enough to warrant his high salary. He works really, really hard for Wedbush, and that is chronically underappreciated.

Q: "Should we trust Pachter?"

A: Pachter subscribes to NPD (so he has the full spectrum of historical data available to him), and he conducts a variety of small-scale channel checks in the market. Basically, Pachter calls up various store managers and asks how the retail market has been doing. He is IN NO WAY an authoritative source of video game sales or an "insider."

GAF insiders in the physical retail market have the following checkmark as their tag:

These GAFfers (like Abdiel, The Shogun, and Cornbread78) frequently provide us with sell-through trends for the USA market that are generally at a larger scale than what Pachter analyses. Therefore, there is no reason to trust Pachter over any other intelligent GAFfer's prediction. He is essentially another NeoGAF poster in terms of credibility.

Q: "Should I create a new thread about this where we make fun of Pachter ad nauseam?"

A: Unless you're comfortable making an "Aquamarine's JPMorgan Chase NPD Predictions" thread, you shouldn't be comfortable making a "Pachter's NPD Predictions" thread. If an ignorant website picks up his predictions, please don't parrot them into a new thread.

The level of discourse in new threads diminishes greatly from propagation of Pachter misinformation and mockery. Anything intelligent that could be said about Pachter is going to be said here by Sales-Age regulars.

Here is a fantastic example of the low-quality nonsense that rises to the surface when we make dedicated threads:

Without further ado, here are Pachter's USA NPD predictions for February 2015:

PS4: 200K
XB1: 168K
WIU: 100K

WiiU 100k?? Wtf
how many times has it been over 100k? I love the Q/A that says he is good at his job... Anyone should be able to observe that rarely happens and no excuse for it to happen this month. Even if he is right it won't be because he made an informed decision.

No chance it happens in Feb...WiiU has probably only been over 100k in holiday months. Don't remember if MK8 even managed to boost it past 100k

Yeah but I bet "spring" will be interpreted as summer, so I expect it in June or July
