BTW, I'm not sure how Nintendo could survive till 2017 with the wii u. It's pretty much irrelevant 2.5 years before that. If Nintendo waits that long for a new console then they run the risk of that just being irrelevant too from no mind share for years before releasing it. So they should either A. Rush out another console that's more powerful than ps4 or B. Wait till Ps5 launches and do a LOT of hyping pre release

i think releasing a new console in 2016 is their best chance. First, fudge the nintendo fans on forums. They are a small minority. Nintendo wouldn't be upsetting that many people (less than 15m that's for sure. Probably less than 5m) and 2017 compared to 2016 won't have that many more new users to offend or many more games to enjoy anyway.  And I kind of merged my points in one. So no second point

How about Nintendo just drops out of the hardware market completely? That's a sentiment that I thought for some time would be worth thinking about for Nintendo, but mentioning that has almost always gotten me flak.

Btw. Max, I'm not sure anymore but aren't you the guy that used to argue in every Media Create/Famitsu thread that the PS4 was going to outsell the Wii U in Japan back in the summer last year?

even if ps4 were selling below wii u right now I'd still be enthusiastic that it would catch up. Wii U has nothing like KH,  FF, MGS and the list goes on. I mean, people wanted to forget that FF will sell over a million the first day on ps4 for some reason.

I think part of the reason PS4 is beating WiiU right now is that a lot of games are around the corner, its not just the baseline. That being said, its pretty much 3:1 so PS4 would still be beating WiiU even if the games were ages off

So I did remember correctly, yes it looks certain by now that it's going to happen, judging the PS4s performance over there before third parties started their support was very rash of people.

Also I asked tachikoma (a user on vgchartz who is also an AAA dev in Japan) about this matter and she apparently sees Morpheus having a huge impact in Japan due to things she is not allowed to talk about at the moment.

I wouldnt really say that because nintendo is the only reason the handheld industry is alive
plus I like having a different console
gives some diversity in my console colllection XD
it would be nice to play zelda on ps4 though

The best console I've owned was the N64. AKA Nintendo's last good console. They just need to get rid of the gimmicks as the main selling point and trying to redefine how we play games. Just release a relatively powerful console that's cheap with Great software. Third parties would jump on. Oh and spend that money on online infrastructure or

Oh yeah, I always forget that there are people out there who like handhelds.

Jan 2015 was worst month ever for 3DS apparently. Even still, it was at least 15k higher than WiiU (so 80k or more)

So that also means Vita sold over 31k

New console 2015. They could make it stronger than PS4 yet cost the same. Jumping in halfway through the gen could be a good way for them to stand out. Then with full backwards compatability, they can keep making wii u games as well. Kinda like new 3DS.
