Is the est way to get vanguard rep/marks doing patrols or the vanguard strikes?

The easy way is do the bounties... you have six per day with give you a total of ~500 marks in less than 20 minutes (yeap it is that easy to finish the bounties)... so in 5 days you reach a new Vanguard/Faction level.

After that you have:

Strikes List: 10-25 (depends of the level) for each 10 minutes
Patrol: 10-20 for each 2 minutes?
Daily Heroic Story: 100-200 marks once (I need to check)
Weekly Heroic Strike: 100-200 marks once (I need to check)

Yeap... patrols is faster.

I'm level 3 vanguard and didn't make Patrol at all... just to complete the daily bounties (6 patrols to get the reward).

Yeah, but doing vanguard or crucible gives you fraction rank, and each rank give you gear. I don't think you have to pay for that gear.

But it does stop your individual vanguard and crucible ranks.

Yeah, but doing vanguard or crucible gives you fraction rank, and each rank give you gear. I don't think you have to pay for that gear.

I know level 3 (and each level after that in any faction/vangard/crucible) give you a Lengenday gear.

The others legendary you have to buy using Marks.

BTW there is a bug in the best faction (my personal view) FWC that are listed the upgrade material with Motes of Ascendant... so it is impossible to full upgrade them because this material doesn't exists in the game... the correct is Ascendant Shards... it will be fixed.

while you get a piece of gear each rank,   the factions also sell legendary gear like the vanguard,  only they just take crucible marks.

the fastest way to get rep from patrols is the 3 person method on earth,   1 person at the skywatch near the farm cave..  1 person at the start and the mothyard,   1 person over near where you start the strike.  keep as much distance between eachother as possible and do the bounties going down in order of which are more important.  VIP assisnation is first,  followed by the killing anything missing, and then the collect drop missions.   the last 2 are the ones that require you to travel somewhere and stand there, or use the ghost to scan.     by keeping the big distances  one person can start a patrol and the other person my be super close to the end point.   drastically reducing the time it takes to complete those bounties,   it also puts more spawn groups within range since your spread out,  for the killing/collecting patrols.  so its much much faster to add up drops and kills.   

while the other person is finishing a patrol you may not be close to,  one person can farm the cave,  one person can farm spinemetal(mothyard), and one person farms chests

yea it takes having another 2 who want to farm rep lol   what ive been doing solo is go to earth patrols and in the start zone there are 3,   a VIP will show up like half the time, it sends you not to to far away, sortof near where they drop the devil walker pub event and thats a quick 25 rep..   from there sometimes there will be another one of those right outside which sends you back in which is nice, or a quick kill patrol.   then i go to orbit and head back down hoping the patrol is back.   if not its usually a kill patrol so ill quickly run around where you spawn and kill those dregs and vandals and you finish super quick.   head to orbit and back down, repeat process.   so im not spending a ton of time running from beacon to beacon, or to far off places to do a ghost scan lol
