Yep the music being spot on, makes a movie or scene hit 1000% more.

Probably one of  my favorite examples would be Interstellar.  That score for the entire movie is insane

kitler53

it doesn't get the attention graphics gets but sound design the probably the most important part of something being good or bad.

Bugonia had a great score. Very weird movie but I loved the score.

Just elevated it so much. Oh shame he's riding his bicycle but shame this is epic and intense, the music says so!

Has anyone seen a critique of a show/movie where it just feels like the person wanted a different kind of story?

I haven't seen a lot of critiques in the first place, but a few stick out.

Like there was that Sherlock video by Hbomberguy (not saying it's a bad video or critique), but there was one very subjective point that stuck out to me.

He was talking about Sherlock being a bad detective show because it doesn't let the viewer figure things out. That's not something I disagree with. But it does feel like wanting a different kind of show than it is.

Can't think of any specific ones of the top of my head, but yeah I've seen that type of thing.

I guess I'm guilty of that too. Cause a lot of things suck imo but have cool foundations. Like the movie Event Horizon.

Watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I think it was a little disappointing, but probably doesn't help that I have seen like 80% of the jokes outside of the movie.

And one of them I felt like was funnier out of context, which was the Unladen Swallow. It's a callback to the start of the movie, where they're discussing what an unladen swallow can carry.

Without the context of putting them together, I always thought it was funny because it felt like a random thing to know. Like "of course I know random trivia". But in the movie, it wasn't that random.

Oh dang. I love that movie. Yeah it's trash but it's funny trash.

You like the running up to the castle gag? Where they repeat the same clip and then poof he's there?

I have a bad habit of collecting movies, and not watching them.    :-X

There are tons of great jokes in the movie.

But I feel like I'm more fond of something like Airplane.

Got all the transformers movies including bumblebee and rise of the beast in 4k blu ray for like $60

Not the absolute best movies, but they are a guilty pleasure that I enjoy watching sometimes. It's a pure nostalgia hit

Transformers 3 I think was on the tv when I was at the gym the other day.

The meghan fox replacement was so hot. Real cute face.

Woman in the reboot was ok.

Rise of the beasts sucked imo

I quite like the first 3. I don't think I ever watch The Last Knight or Bumblebee. Rise of the beasts was okish.

IDK if it flopped cause it was relatively cheap to make, but yeah didn't do good.

Masters of the universe though, that looks like a flop.

I watched the movie Hoppers.

Something that I've been thinking about, is that it's often hard to really understand why something works/doesn't work.

Most movies/shows aren't perfectly realistic. Lawyers complain about lawyer shows bring unrealistic. Physicists complain about physics in sci-fi movies. Etc.

Inaccuracies can affect an individual's enjoyment, but these are generally domain specific. They don't generally matter.

Plot holes can be problematic. But they usually don't matter.

I think something that matters to me is internal consistency.

Either on the scene level or the overall story. Does it make sense to go from scene A to scene B? Is scene A consistent?  Etc. But I don't think it matters as much if there are small inconsistencies between scenes. You're not going to notice if the character is suddenly wearing a slightly different color blue shirt.

I think the movie Cars has an internal consistency. But I think if you tried to justify the world by giving an explanation for why they are living cars, I think the explanation would be absurd and stop being consistent.

I am going on this rant because there are points in Hoppers where it feels like it's not logically consistent.

There are like two big jumps in the story that feel kind of silly. I think it drags the movie down a bit for me, even though it's largely a good movie.
