Quote from: Legend on Feb 27, 2025, 08:20 PMThat's pretty cool. Do you give it hard questions, or is it simple stuff that it is 80% good at?

I'd say they're harder questions.

I've been using it a lot lately
- when I'm too lazy to do something for my personal projects. I've asked it a lot to code up something for me. I usually still need to make changes, but it at least gives me a starting point for coding.

- if I am struggling to find results via google.

QuoteBrokenness makes sense. AI models are so dependent on context and if it starts off on the wrong foot, it's just going to stay that way. Also a lot of the time LLMs feel like they speed read my posts. If I have something unexpected but not shocking, they often ignore it.

Even that feels like an 80% of the time thing. Like 80% of the time, it's responsive to being corrected. And there's the 20% of the time, where it just doesn't seem to get it.

Yesterday was a little funny, I kind of accidentally goaded copilot into saying I was correct.

I was asking how to directly link images in vue, so that it would be a link. But it kept suggesting that I put in the src/assets folder, which gets compiled. I think there's a way for either method to work, but none of what it was suggesting to me, was quite correct.

I had said something like "everything I have found talks about importing it via script from the assets folder, and I know you can use the public folder instead to directly link images".

And copilot was like you are correct, that's what you want to do.

And I was like well do you have any sources for that being the best way. But none of the sources quite said it was the best way.

QuotePresident Donald Trump's education secretary repeatedly referred to artificial intelligence as "A1"—like the popular steak sauce—instead of "AI" during a panel on artificial intelligence in education.

"I wish I could remember the source, but there's a school system that's going to start making sure that first graders or even pre-Ks have A1 teaching every year starting that far down in the grades," Education Secretary Linda McMahon, 76, said at a summit put on by Silicon Valley investors in California on Tuesday.

QuoteMcMahon, a Trump loyalist who led the Small Business Administration during his first term, was a controversial pick for education secretary given her lack of experience in education. She was formerly the chief executive of World Wrestling Entertainment, which she founded with now-estranged husband Vince McMahon.

Yeah it has been on my list to get fixed. I understand the problem well, but not the solution.

The problem is that when you past a video in a certain way, the text afterwards gets stuck in the same html element. So then the parser just considers it extra junk in the video and it is deleted. Click the "Toggle source view" button that looks like a page and it'll do the same thing.

lol at A1. Reminds me of my mom who thought her TV was set to HDM 11.

AI transcription is kind of weird. I'm not sure what causes the issue, but sometimes it's like it gets stuck and it will constantly repeat the same phrase. I transcribed a TV series, and most of the time it was great. But then there were a handful of super weird issues.

Like 18 episodes it did a great job transcribing the theme song even. And then like 2 times it was like [this is music].
And sometimes it gets stuck repeating line. And you will get twenty minutes of subtitles repeating a line that happened twenty minutes earlier.

OpenAI released new models today, o3 and o4.
They are really bad at not lying.

One thing I'm curious about is whether AI might be changing how people talk/write. Either to avoid sounding like AI or if people actually like certain words or phrases.

I literally say "lulz" to people in place of laughing at a joke.

what I'm saying is it's hard to imagine something as impactful as AI not influencing people.  I couldn't tell you today exactly what that impact is and maybe it is Soo soon to even know.  but it is affecting us.

I think grammar checking in word and google docs has done far more of that.

Like for example I say "based off" but google wants to correct it to "based on." It's trying to change me!!!

A big reason why I brought this up, is because
- I've seen some reddit threads, for example where teachers were talking about seeing certain patterns in writing that suggest AI - even when they are pretty innocuous patterns.

- After messing around with copilot, I find that I really like the em dash, but it's obviously frequently associated with AI.

Well it's often super obvious when something is written by AI. They all have a very similar and boring style.

I don't think an em dash would stand out.

I feel like I'm happy with where a lot of generative AI is. A lot of it is "good enough", but not great and I'm okay with that.

What I really would like to see more of is video generation.

I think I get what you mean, but the "good enough" is still so bad when trying to make something non generic. I don't need generative AI that does the creativity for me, but I'd love generative AI that could at least build off my instructions instead of fighting them.

I'm also super looking forward to full movie generation. Throw in a book and get a movie out? That'd be sweet.

no where near good enough for me.  I spot complete fabrications several times a day.  makes me not trust the answers when I'm less familiar with the topic.
