Gemini flash 2.0 is just so dumb. It's built into my phone so I use it all the time as a google replacement.

But it just insisted 150°F was unsafe and the food needed to be 140+°F. I corrected it and it refused, insisting 150°F was too cold and I needed the food to at least be 140°F.

Gemini 2.5 pro though is really good. Rare for me to have issues with it on basic stuff.

But I also find it really annoying. It does some "thinking" before it does what you ask.

Like imagine if you ask it to write a romantic four line poem about flowers.

You would probably get in response, a few pages first about how the user wants a romantic poem about flowers, they probably mean roses since roses are a romantic flower.

It puts out some of the longest text responses I've seen in any of these local models I've tried, yet I've literally had it not do what I asked a few times, just because it spent so long trying to figure out what I wanted.
What are you using these local models for?

Different things.
Sometimes have it write stories, sometimes I try to make it have a conversation.

Wow.

Gemini 2.0 is incredibly lobotimized to be "safe" and have specific values.

Yet it just said the nazi's work was left tragically unfinished in regards to the holocaust.

"Tragically unfinished."

The whole response was of course very anti nazi so it's super interesting that that wording was selected.

Sometimes I find AI to be very helpful, sometimes it's very not.

I asked it to create a google sheets formula for me a few days ago, and it gave me something reasonable.

Then I deleted it because I thought I didn't need it anymore.

But then I thought maybe it'd save me work again, so I asked it to come up with the same formula.

And it just keeps giving me useless formulas that do something completely different than I asked.

:(

Ended up being easiest to just use Google sheets version history..
