I think 2026 is more likely tbh. I thought this was Santa Monica's game lol

I expect 2026.

I don't think this trailer was the best. This feels like it's just a cutscene ripped from the game. It does set a few things, but there's no emotional impact to it.

The TLOU trailer had emotions to it.

This looks very well done in a lot of respects. Reading people's takes about it. The concept sounds interesting. Cowboy Bebop is held in very high regard in the anime space. Apparently all the brands is very much a trope that is consistent with the genre that this takes place in.

but there's not really any emotion in the trailer. Doesn't feel like the trailer gives us much reason to care.

yeah, the only takeaway I got was that she's looking for someone that is lost wherever she is.

I think the more lighthearted nature of the trailer was intentional to show it's not going to be as hard hitting emotionally like TLOU was. And I can't blame them. The world of TLOU is probably draining to work with emotionally.

Or at least that was my take at least.

I'm hoping we get surprised and it releases 2025, but I'm doubtful

They're claiming that it'll be an emotional character-driven journey:

QuoteBeyond that, we're keeping everything about the story under wraps – at least for now. What we can tell you is that this game lives up to the Naughty Dog tradition of creating an emotional, character-driven epic journey.

I wish they teased more gameplay in the trailer. I get ND devs being excited by this but it's such a simple screenshot.

Hopefully they can show more in 2025. Are we fighting one bad guy at a time with deep combat mechanics? Or was the trailer just a simple trailer and we'll be fighting dozens at a time?

Looking for her old crew. That actor was also in a picture on the wall with her.

well yeah, I don't doubt that. I guess I just mean it won't be as heavy as TLOU.

i paused the video on the news wall thing:

1. there is a picture of 5 people featured in the center.  the main character of the trailer was in it.
2. there are news articles talking about the "Five Aces".  According to the articles they were criminals that were "unstoppable" until one day they all just disappeared.
3. there is mention of a safety deposit ship being lost and then found weeks later but was empty.  so a big heist i'd guess.
4. the main character seems to be looking for all 4 of her other crew memebers.  not just the one mentioned during the talky bits.
5. there are also a few bits around some new ship technology.  could just be filler but i'll bet this "hypergate" fits into the story somehow.

i'm not the sleuthy-est of people and likely some of the details will only make sense in heinsight.  but i feel like the gist of the plot is in there.

there were some codes ("variants") that i felt like looked conspicuous.  the sort of thing that could be inputed into the game after release for an easter egg.

I feel ND announced this to confirm it's a new IP and it's different from TLOU but also so they can stopped being asked about it

QuoteDruckmann declined to share many details about Intergalactic, which is the first original story he and his team have created in almost 15 years and does not have a release date. But he said it was a return to Naughty Dog's roots in the action-adventure genre that helped build the studio's reputation with franchises like Crash Bandicoot. It takes inspiration, he said, from classic anime like the 1988 movie "Akira" and the 1990s series "Cowboy Bebop."

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who have composed film scores for "Challengers" and "The Social Network," wrote the soundtrack for Intergalactic. Tati Gabrielle ("Chilling Adventures of Sabrina") will star as the bounty hunter, Jordan Mun, and Kumail Nanjiani ("Silicon Valley") will play Colin Graves, one of her wanted men.

I don't like that Kumail is just Kumail. He's great and I'm excited he's in the game, but I wish he had a unique face just for his character.

Also looks like Kojima will play Kojima in it.

They did the same with Tony Dalton.
