with trump elected and fairly opening saying he won't block M&A (for companies that pay him off obviously.  of course he'll go after the ones he thinks support democrats) i think MS will acquire lots of things in the next couple of years.   not necessarily video game related acquisitions but it could be.   MS has a massive amount of cash right now and the environment is perfect for using that cash to eliminate competitors.

Yeah sure in AI but in gaming? I don't see it. It's clear MS wants Xbox to start paying them back with profit on the ABK acquisition. The Xbox console itself is basically dead so if it was an acquisition it would be to further incentivise 3rd party.

i agree.  with MS seemingly going full 3rd party i'm not sure if there is much motivation to acquire more studios here.  but i wouldn't rule it out either.

Oh she left SSM? Why?

Do we know anything at all about Barlog's game beyond it being something new? Will be the first all new thing SSM releases since GOW 1 which is just crazy.

her dad died.  she's moving back to Australia to reprioritize family over work.

edit: man the era thread is something else.   I'll guess it has a lot to due with different countries but apparently 40 hour work weeks is "insane".   apparently 10 days PTO "illegal".  she goes on and on about how much she loves her job but half the thread is now using the video to call SM and abusive employer despite being quite standard for America.

Is 10 days standard for AL in America? If so that's nuts as most jobs have 20-25 standard in the UK. 40 hours work weeks isn't that insane though as standard is 37.5 hours.

Absolutely nothing. Most people assume its sci-fi because Cory loves Star Trek and other sci-fi stuff.

when american's say 10 days PTO that doesn't include the typical 10 days of company holiday (4th of july, thanksgiving, xmas, ect).    is that different in europe?  when i see people post they have 30 days of time off to me it is "insane" if it also include even more days of company holiday.  40 days of vacation a year and how the crud do you get anything done!?!?

i'd be down for a shorter work week but i don't feel like 40 hours a weeks is "insane".  many americans just choose to work more.  when i was in grad school my typical work week was 90 hours a week.  when i started my career (before kids) i frequently worked overtime "just for fun".

the only thing about american work culture i find "insane" is that pretty much every jobs allocates PTO based on how many years you worked with the company.  right now I get 2o days of PTO (+ 10 days of company holiday) but that's because i've been with my current company a long time.  if i changed jobs i fully expect to lose that and go back to just 10 days of PTO because that's how the system works.    I think it's "insane" companies do that because how can you lure in top teir talent when those people lose half of their PTO.

only counting years with the current employer i'd say this is fairly standard and what my company uses:

0-5 years: 10 days
5-10 years: 15 days
10+ years: 20 days

+ 10 days of company holiday regardless of years of experience.

America has one of the worst in the world.

Much of Europe is 20+ days of PTO, and 10+ days holiday.

In most countries, the government requires certain amounts of PTO to be given. Less than a dozen countries in the world, such as the US, don't require a minimum.

I have 25 days off a year and it doesn't Include any public holidays. I work 4.5 days a week. But I'm not currently in Europe, though they have similar number if days off per year.  Of course it all depends on the country, job, company.

I don't think 40 hour work weeks are "insane". That's a typical work week.

Don't you think the ability to fire anyone for any reason is unjust?
