The great thing is Astro Bot probably doesn't need more than a million to break even since it has no mo-cap, voice acting and is made in Japan which is much cheaper than America. I'd love for it to blow up though.

i think 10 million is a lock based on how positive the reception has been across the internet.   might take a year to get there but this thing is going to blow-up.

i'm day 1 for sure even at $70.   based on the reception sony would be a fool not to charge $70.

Quote from: Legend on May 31, 2024, 07:47 PMEra is full of idots, what would you expect?  ::)

Look at average gamers and Helldiver 2's reception was incredibly positive. Just compare the old comments on its last sop trailer Helldivers 2 - "A United Stand" Galactic War Trailer | PS5 & PC Games to the ones from Concord - Gameplay Trailer | PS5 Games. Plus looking back at the log, that Helldivers 2 trailer had 5 times as many likes per view in the first day.

If Concord plays great then yeah it can still do great, but this is a pretty bad reception.
i agree.  the reception has been bad.

i don't think helldivers reception was any better once you subtract for it's built-in fanbase for the original.   yes it got more likes but it wasn't that high and there was a small but vocal fanbase hyping it up.   i told my co-op buddy it reminded me of the mood just before rocket league launched with the small fanbase of players that had been playing "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars".   they knew man.  they knew.

no one knows what to expect from concord.

It's funny how people keep finding more things to dislike about Concord. It better have some great gameplay cause it seems to be doing everything else wrong.

Horizon

I don't think the characters designs are bad. I know a few casual gamers who want to try out Concord so it might just have more appeal amongst casuals.

I think astrobot is going to be huge, and I think not doing VR was brilliant even if I'm bummed.

It's a joke but it's true. Millions of people will have never heard of Astrobot rescue mission yet will immediately recognize this as a sequel to that free game on their ps5s. It's as if astrobot is already a massive franchise.

I'm optimistic in general but for Astrobot I'll go crazy and predict it'll have comparable success to Super Mario Bros 3D World.

I'm optimistic, but I don't think I'm quite as optimistic as others are.

It's trending very well. Blowing Concord out of the water, even in casual audiences.

I don't think I would have expected 5 million even a couple days ago.

Holy heck, the Era thread is at 30 pages.
And it got there in like half the time as the Resident Evil Village thread.  That's wild.

Astro's Playroom only got like 4 pages.

Astro has a real good shot at being a big franchise for Sony.

Maybe we will get a Japan Studio rebirth with Astro Bot success...

I thought this was way over the top, when I started this post. But now...

I really hope it does incredibly well. Astro Bot Rescue Mission is up there with God of War (2018) for me.

It'd also be hilarious if it does sell 20 million after Sony said they didn't have any major franchise games this year.

with the inevitable port to PC I think 20 or even 30 million is possible.  this is trending very well and looks incredibly fun.

man, i can barely even find evidence of it's existence on the internet as everything is pushing me to the ps5 version but..

...remember astro's playroom was first a collection of mini-games that released for free on the ps4.    astrobot rescue mission is not why the mainstream gamers know about astro bot.  2x free releases that were both well recieved.

Yup, was really popular and basically ushered in non gameplay streams on twitch. People would just stream their camera and just chat with people or do other gimmicks. I think I remember watching some show on it that had the slightest bit of production value.

They also made an equivalent tech demo for psvr1.

That's because it was just called "The Playroom"

I think it'll be boosted by the Playroom, and probably be boosted by being the only first party single player game in a while.

Price will probably be a damper.

I fully expect that reception will be great though. Probably better than Rescue Mission for being a full sized title. >90.

I think 5 million would be fantastic.

Wait do we know the price?

$70 would dampen my sales dreams. $50 like other recent games would help a lot.

We don't.
We will probably find out in a week. Preorders start on the 9th.
