Jeez, Bungie is like 3x the size of ND after layoffs.

it takes a lot of people to apply a colorshader  to a gun and sell it for $15.

Live service games take a lot of work but wowza. Hopefully some of those devs are being put to work on a single player game.

Fairgame$ and Concord also...

Marathon also, but that's Bungie/multiplatform.

One of these years I am expecting a blow out from Sony...

Wasn't sure what wording to use but you're right, those are 100% Sony studios now.

Still it's just crazy that Naughty Dog, Guerilla, Media Molecule, Bend, Sucker Punch, etc. don't have any announced games.

QuoteOne employee, for instance, told us, "The Quarry team was originally Until Dawn 2 working with Sony. And Sony basically paid for them to be making this for them as a prototype. Then once the prototype was done, Supermassive turned around and said, 'We're going to shop this around and see if anyone else wants it", which was kind of the final nail in the coffin of any relationship with Sony. They ended up getting picked up by Google who funded it for years."

Another employee seemed to confirm The Quarry was at one point Until Dawn 2, but offered a slightly different take on these events, suggesting it was Sony who broke things off over The Dark Pictures' multi-platform approach: "The Quarry started as a pitch for Until Dawn, but they didn't have the license. They burnt their bridges with Sony by releasing Dark Pictures on multiple platforms. As far as I'm aware someone else has that license now."

Kind of doubt the multiplatform story, but Supermassive pulling out to find a different publisher, I think that lines up pretty well.

Here's why Supermassive never made Until Dawn 2

Sounds like Ballistic Moon is likely working on another project with Sony.

QuoteOnly dissapointment is Balistic Monn doing a remake and not a new Until Dawn game.

Seems really unlikely that Supermassive would unilaterally pull away from Sony after building a prototype together. If Sony was also unhappy with them and was only offering bad deals then sure, but why would Supermassive approach Sony in the first place unless that was what they wanted?

Also feels a bit odd that there would even be a prototype that was funded separately to the full game. Supermassive has consistently replicated the base experience of Until Dawn so why would a publisher put money towards just that instead of inking a full deal? Makes it sound like Sony had reservations from the very beginning.

From what I recall, Google was offering crazy amounts of money for games. Maybe Supermassive pulled out in favor of working with Google?

Assuming there's any truth in the story there.

helldivers 2 previews are all pretty positive.

i think i might pick this up.  i did enjoy the first.  i'm like it more as a 3rd person.   i'm kind of tired of playing rocket league and just want a different game i can drop in, play a couple matches, and then move on.
