yeah as much as I love the new ones, the original trilogy is still my all time favorite for the series

Spoilers for GOW 2018 and for what's not in ragnarok
Spoiler for Hidden:
I loved the boat scene with Athena in GOW 2018 so I was really hoping the sequel would greatly expand on that. So much potential yet they just handwaved it away.

Original trilogy is definitely better in many ways imo.

Original trilogy is definitely better in many ways imo.

Or did they?

Spoiler for Hidden:
I don't actually know, but I've heard some things about the DLC.

>Sony's PlayStation, which inexplicably said in 2022 that it planned to release ten live-service games in the next few years, will be the biggest victim of this collapse. It has already canceled several of its service games, and it's reasonable to expect that more will follow

Legend

Who could have seen that coming? :P

Should have included some context here.

Jason Schreier - Five Big Video-Game Industry Predictions for 2024

- consolidation will continue

>With interest rates set to drop and regulatory concerns less prevalent after the Microsoft-Activision deal closed in the fall, game companies are going to return to merging and acquiring. Potential buyers include Saudi Arabia and several US tech giants: Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc. and Apple Inc. (Microsoft Corp. will stick with smaller moves rather than risk another drawn-out battle with regulators.) Potential sellers include Ubisoft Entertainment SA and Electronic Arts Inc. as well as a handful of mid-sized game companies, such as Borderlands-developer Gearbox Entertainment, which is on the market following the implosion of parent company Embracer Group AB.

- studios will pivot away from live service:

>Unlike traditional games, which a player will typically finish in a few weeks, these GAAS continue competing with one another in perpetuity, making it extremely hazardous for new entries and more or less ensuring that oversaturation is inevitable. Games like Ubisoft's Skull & Bones and Warner's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, each of which were in development for more than five years and likely cost in the eight or nine figures, seem like they may be doomed before they even launch.

- the industry will unionize

>Last year was brutal for the workers of the video-game industry, and many observers expect the job cuts to continue throughout 2024. People are going to want to protect themselves.

One of his other predictions is basically the consolidation one, but specifically Saudi Arabia becoming more invested in gaming.

And the last one is that Switch 2 will have an unexpected twist. Has no idea what it will be.

That's a lot more than I would have expected.

Horizon

Quote from: Horizon on May 26, 2023, 07:36 AM2023 - Spider-man 2,Helldivers 2
2024 - Death Stranding 2, Concord, Asobi game, TLOU Factions,
2025 - Ghost of Tsushima 2,Fairgame$,Twisted Metal,Wolverine, Horizon online
2026 - SSM game, Bend game, Bluepoint, London studio, Media Molecule
2027- Horizon 3, Housemarque,Firesprite game,GT8
2028- ND game,Spider-man 3

When you look at it like that they have a ton announce and I am forgetting xdev but clearly might want to hold some of these back to closer to release

Apart from Factions i might be right for 2024..

Wonder if we'll get a sequel. Would be hard to do but "Until Dawn" is still their biggest game by a large amount.

Same concept/them but different cast. I don't think it would be hard to do honestly. They can explore another mystical creature, or go with a whole new story.

the-pi-guy

So sounds like there's a State of Play coming, with Death Stranding 2 and Until Dawn remastered.

I've said it a few times, I have a hard time believing that Sony would remaster Until Dawn, but not Bloodborne.

SWORDF1SH

There was hype for Until Dawn that they didn't get for their other games. It would be hard to get the same level of hype they got for Until Dawn but very possible with a direct and not a spiritual sequel.
