It was announced last year at the Summer Game Fest. Druckmann went on stage, confirmed it was in development and shared a piece of concept art and said that we would hear more about it "next year" (this year).

Sony will probably let it slip away quietly then as it wasn't a big reveal.

Quote"I am obsessed with growth. When growth stagnates, you fall into a negative spiral," he said. "We have defined our company's purpose with Yoshida's leadership. My job is to make that a concrete project," he added.

This is a quote from the person that is taking over temporarily as Chairman of SIE.
It's still interesting that he's taking over, that Sony Group is putting him in charge instead of someone from inside SIE, and I'm rather curious what the next period of time will look like.

It sounds like he's a believer in being aggressive.

Yep if they invest in the wrong things in the long run it will have severe implications.

Media Molecule has a job out for a server programmer.

I'm starting to worry that Sony is pushing too hard on live service. I would be happy with a lot of expansion to make room for live service, but not if it's at the cost of studios like Media Molecule.

I know that's a little tricky with Dreams kind of being a live service game, and games like LittleBigPlanet still would have needed a server programmer. But I get the feeling that is where they are transitioning towards.

I would be happy if they made something like LittleBigPlanet.

I don't know if they have a future sadly. Pixelopus was shut down so Sony doesn't care about smaller games like that unless they really deliver.

Yeah I fear for Sony London. Studios which already have an identity like the big 4, SP and Bend will be fine. It's studios like MM and London who need to carve out an identity which I fear for. Still I cannot see Sony closing down MM as the PR would be a disaster especially when MS has almost triple the amount of studios.

This was one of the things I was concerned about.

Connie Booth apparently was one of those behind the scenes people that drove Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, etc

Didn't share it when I saw Jaffe talking about it, but it has been confirmed now.

What is Jaffe up to nowadays?

He primarily makes YouTube/Twitch videos.

I've seen some of his videos a few years back. I found him annoying.

QuoteAlmost every studio you listed here is or was working on an online game, some forced to really.

Scuttlebutt is, Sony is reversing course and using third party to catch up on some IPs.

I heard Sega has a hand in an old IP that'll Wipe the floor. But again, with things "turning around" as rumored, it's going to be at least 4 years until some of these changes are seen.

Random person on Era is claiming that Sony is reversing course on some of their live service push, and using Sega/Namco to help out with their transitioning.

Normally I would ignore this kind of thing, but I thought it was interesting that a Gematsu journalist was bringing attention to this user.

Sega and Namco Bandai? I don't buy it
