How come?
Mostly just been a low priority, compared to the animated movies.

i've only seen aladdin and beauty and the beast.  i liked aladdin better but these live actions remakes haven't really appealed to me.

mostly i've just seen these stories a million times and don't really need to see them again.  just watching my favorites (minus lion king).   the lion king just annoyed me because it's 100% animated and not at all live action.   kind of pissed all over the point of the remakes imo.

So I signed up for the Disney Movie Club.

I feel like it's not something I would recommend.

The premise is you become obligated to buy 5 full priced movies over the next 2 years, and on sign up you get 4 movies for $1 total.
They have some exclusives (some of them do get resold elsewhere). Like the Black Cauldron on Blu-ray is one. You can still find it on Amazon third party, but it's $45 instead of $25 ($15 on sale)

A big downside is that full price is full price. But there's lots of promotional stuff. Like take 50% off your second movie; kind of thing.

Probably not the kind of thing to stay with, but probably worth doing it once for some people like me....

Anyways, got Soul, Brave, The Jungle Book (live action), Coco; and got Elemental and Aladdin 2+3.

So I think that covers the 4 0.25 cent movies and I think the latter 2 both count towards the 5 full priced movies.

Will probably end up getting a couple more Pixar movies and maybe Disney's Wish if that isn't terrible.

I did the CD clubs as a kid.

I've been kind of worried about the future of being able to acquire movies and tv shows.

Warner Bros, Sony and Disney, I feel like are pretty good about either putting their stuff on DVD/blu-ray, or in some cases they are acquirable on iTunes.

Netflix and Amazon on the other hand, are obviously not eager to release their stuff anywhere.

It worries me a bit, with physical media not doing great.

all on Netflix stuff is easily pirateable.

So movie wise I want to get:
- More of the Nolan movies
- More of the classic Disney/Pixar movies
- The Godfather movies

Not sure what else I should look into getting at some point.

Every alien film.

Not the franchise, I mean every film with aliens. Asteroid City wasn't that good though  :'(

Elemental is out on Disney+ currently, it comes out next week on disc.

Feel like it should be the other way around.

Get the suckers like me to pay $20 as an incentive to watch before it comes to Disney+.

Does Titan AE count?

Elemental started better than I expected but by the end it was meh imo. Surprised it did such a good job recovering.

Titan AE sure does count. Same with Treasure Planet.

Quote from: Legend on Sep 09, 2023, 06:12 PMWhat did anyone else think of the new little mermaid? Watched it on disney plus and thought it was so freaking bad.

Cinderella, beauty and the beast, and jungle book are all great.

Aladdin and Lion King were more mixed but still fine.

Then mermaid and pinocchio are these fever dreams that make no sense.
I bought one from each of these tiers (Jungle Book, Lion King and Mermaid). Apparently had Cinderella, but it wasn't a movie that I had gotten...
