What would convince you to get an xbox?

All xbox games are on pc so there's very little reason to get one if you have a gaming pc, but this question is open to everyone.

If you don't have an xbox, what would convince you to get one? If starfield didn't convince you, is there any hope for them?

the-pi-guy

Having less debt would make me get an Xbox.

I very much am wanting to get an Xbox, but it's a low priority.

Nothing at all.

When MS bought up bethesda it helped me decide to get a steam deck.   why get an xbox when every xbox game is on stream and steam has like 10 bajillion games not on xbox.  ...and on steam i don't need to pay the subscription fee.

Nothing will ever get me to buy an xbox.

Hell, if sony keeps on putting everything on steam i dunno about a ps6...

And to add,.. i've read your posts about star field.  I wouldn't play it if it were free on ps.

It might be my game of the gen, but yeah not a game I'd blindy recommend to someone.

Will be very interesting to see how it does. I'm still in a vacuum and don't know how other bethesda fans are taking it. Might be another Skyrim that defines a generation of gamers, or it might be more like Fallout 4.

I can appreciate you like it if you can appreciate i don't.  I've never cared for Bethesda though.

my coop buddy is a fan of Bethesda.  he played tons of Skyrim, oblivion, fallout.   he read the reviews for Starfall and was really disappointed.

he was massively disappointed that you couldn't explore space freely saying you can make a game about exploring space and then fudge up the exploration. he finished NMS recently as an example of doing it right.

he expects he will still play it but said he's waiting for it to hit $20 or less in steam.  he said rather wait for the modders to fix the game.

Probably nothing. I'd get a gaming pc first

You can explore space freely so I'm not sure what you mean. He just wants to hyperdrive between planets instead of hyperjump between planets?

If he considers NMS an example of doing it right then you can safely discard his space gaming opinions lol. NMS puts all the planets next to each other and then has a skybox star rotate around them. Like a fundamental thing you expect in a space game is hot planets near the star and cold planets far from the star, yet NMS can't even do that.

Either way it's interesting that Microsoft's biggest exclusive is now out. Hellblade and Avowed will have fans but I don't think they'll move the scale that much. 90% of Avowed fans will have already jumped in for Starfield and 90% of Hellblade fans will already be pretty happy with Sony's cinematic games.

from space land your ship anywhere you want
flying around in a planets atmosphere to search for points of interest
get in your space ship and take off to space
see a planet in the distance and travel there but like,.. flying in that direction

...so like actually exploring the world via traversal and not via a menus.

so not "right" from a science PoV but from a fun perspective.   honestly legend,.. your takes on several games in the last few weeks has been really weird.  do you even like video games anymore!?!   ..or are you so obsessed with realism that you just want software that perfectly models something mundane like,.. tripping on a rock.  i feel like your a personal example for me about how the bubble of working on video games has ballooned dev cost/time trying to solve things no one really cares about.

i'm not sure hellblade really has much of a fanbase to begin with.  i don't think anyone would give a dang about it if it wasn't for MS buying up the studio.

Avowed is a bit of a wild card imo.  personally i thought the gameplay trailer looked pretty bad but still,.. it's a new IP and it could flop spectacularly or surprise us all with being completely different and fun.   we'll see.  i'll at least say i expect (potentially) more from avowed than hellblade.

Haha how do you not see how ironic your post is?

Also your mind is set that Starfield is a bad game but don't try to act like NMS is a good game lol. Maybe some update I don't care about has overhauled the gameplay but it was designed as the type of boring grind fest you absolutely hate. Nothing about it is right from the fun perspective.

the-pi-guy

@Legend, when did you last play No Man's Sky?

Honest curiosity, haven't played the game at all.  All I know is that people have been more so raving about it for the past few years, as a big comeback from the disaster it started out as.

I was really tempted to try it on gamepass and see its current state but I didn't feel comfortable giving the devs any support.

At least in the early years the redemption arc felt so fake. They made a boring grind game and lots of people like boring grind games. Once everyone else left, that crowed took over the conversation. I think some of the updates have been massive but in general it still seems to be the same game at its core.

Like just a random thing from a couple days ago, it still has so many technical issues: Hello Games really, really needs to slow down and fix the game

kitler53

I have not played NMS nor do I want to.  I just let you know the opinion of the only Bethesda fan I know.

I'm done talking to you about starfield thought.  it's your perfect game and I have no need to take that from you.

Legit what is wrong with you today? I haven't even defended Starfield or said one positive thing about it in this thread.

I'm trying to insult NMS and you just keep insulting me. What the fudge dude?

What would convince me to get an Xbox?

$200. Take it or leave it.
