Toy Story 2 was bad but they had a lot of great movies after that.

Loss of talent is what killed pixar imo. They had such an amazing run up till 2010 or so. Disney bought them and moved some people to the Disney side.

I think this is an uncommon opinion.  :P

Might be some truth to this.
Cars 2 and on in 2011, it gets a bit spottier with great movies and okay movies.

Right i was thinking that Toy Story 2 was regarded as an amazing sequel. lol

They definitely had some mega hits after 2010 but what last 5 years they've been on a downward spiral

If he was being sarcastic, I apologize.  ;D

Bad for Pixar. Doesn't come close to Toy Story 1 or 3.

Although I'm really surprised that reviewers gave Bugs Life such a low score. Didn't expect that.

See I personally thought TS 3 was bad.  I don't feel it captured the magic of toy story like the first 2 did.  But idk, i'm not the biggest pixar fan anyway.

I still think that's a rare opinion.

I think most people and critics would comfortably put Toy Story 2 as being in the same class. There's even quite a few lists that put 2 above 1 and 3, but I don't think that's the general opinion.

Rotten tomatoes has them as 92, 87, and 90 so in this rare case my opinions actually match the majority haha.

I watched Toy Story 3 in theaters as a teenager so it could never replicate the childhood experience of watching the first two, but it hit me in its own way. I'm not the biggest Toy Story fan but I was a huge pixar fan up till The Good Dinosaur.

So Disney killed Pixar

Also a lot of animators either quit or do career changes. The working conditions have always been horrible and there is little reward for the long hours.

Disney animated movies got a heck of a lot better once John Lasseter was in charge of them, starting with Tangled.

He never left Pixar though. It was more about sharing vs taking. Pixar had some bad movies but they still had some good ones.

Oh gosh. Pictures from the set of the Snow White movie leaked and they look horrible.

Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot could draw some people in but this movie has essentially nothing else going for it. I guess the dwarfs in the original were poor with patched clothes but I never pictured something like this.

This is all but guaranteed to be a box office train wreck.

If I'm being serious I think the reasons for Pixar's downfall are

1- bad working conditions for animators

2- being bought by Disney. It's hard to stay creative when you're part of a huge corporation.

3- the overall market for movies and movie creation has changed. Back in the 90s and 2000s most movies had originated from an "elevator pitch". Now days movies are decided by analytics, data, forecasts and marketability. A lot less risk is taken.

I'm as liberal as they come and even I'm tired of this PoV that a movie needs a by the numbers count of men/women and black/white/brown casting.

I'm happy for Disney to pay attention to that on a grand scale but not movie by movie.  it's okay for a movie to be all black/white/brown or all male/female.   diversity include diving into a PoV that's unfamiliar to you.  but forcing it in like this just feels like it's inauthentic to anyone.

I think Disney should have stuck to their guns on a cast of little people.  being tasteful is important but that is an underrepresented group and this just,..  no one is going to be happy with this.

Yeah the homogeny of films sucks. Across multiple films it's very important to represent lots of people and lots of positive messages, but individual films need to be encouraged to do their own things.

No clue what Disney should have done. Primarily I really just hate their outfits and how they seem to be acting.

In other news, Indiana Jones is dead. It's the biggest box office flop in history. Will fall short of $400 million world wide. Meanwhile Elemental has done a great job turning into just a smaller box office loss. Pixar can't be happy but it's no longer a disaster, as long as Barbie doesn't break its legs.

Haunted Mansion, The Marvels, and Wish are Disney's remaining films for the year. I think all three have potential to make money if reviews are great, but that seems unlikely for the first 2. Slightly off topic but am I the only person that likes Brie Larson? She's the one part of The Marvels that makes me interested.
