I'm really liking the combat and story so far. I'm pretty close to wanting to buy the full game but I'll hold off till reviews and finishing the demo

demo was pretty awesome.  might have got me at $70.  will wait for reviews to confirm the whole game is as good as that demo.

People have been raving about the demo.  There's a meme about people buying the full game as soon as they finish it.

Someone said they consider the game a system seller like Metal Gear Solid 4 was for the PS3, Bloodborne was for PS4.

If reviewers haven't been raving about the game, I would have gone like 7 points lower.

Final Fantasy has been not great since XII, 17 years ago...

I have really gotten the impression this will easily be the best Final Fantasy since XII at least.

I havent played the demo, but there is a good amount of hype from reviewers and people who played the demo.  

I pre-ordered, it will be my 1 day 1 game this year. And hopefully it will live it up to the hype. If it doesn't, it won't be the first time FF has let me down.

FF16's demo is a masterclass in pre-launch marketing | Opinion

It's rare to be able to watch public opinion about a game change in real time – and in the cases when we do, it's usually not a change for the better. Goodwill for a game (or for any other product or brand) is usually built up slowly but squandered quickly.

It's been refreshing, therefore, to watch the incredibly positive swing in opinion and word of mouth about Final Fantasy 16 this week, following the release of a demo for the game that has been an absolute coup for its marketing – answering the concerns of fans, giving acres of content to streamers and content creators, and intriguing newcomers to the series all at the same time

It's not that FF16 is snatching victory from the jaws of defeat here – the latest instalment in the venerable series was already the subject of plenty of interest even before the demo arrived, partially because of its bombastic trailers that suggest quite a major departure from the mainline series, and partially because of the involvement of senior staffers from the very well-regarded FF14.

i mean, i did the demo in 2 nights.   not that it was super long but i was really tired the night before.

the 1st half of the demo was like 90% cut scenes and the 10% gameplay was really dumb gameplay like i detailed earlier of walk forward for 10 seconds down a corridor to get to the next cut scene.  plus the story was very early in it's development and kind of boring.

the 2nd half of the demo was like 60-70% gameplay and the combat was really fun.  that and the story quickly took a turn for the awesome.  i think it was pezus that said it gave him game of throne vibes and i would agree.   

...plus there was this one spot with the most epic door AI i've ever seen.   so much to love in this demo.

Edt: This is just the regular opening of the game? Think I'll wait and just play the full thing.
