> (Bloomberg) -- Sony Group Corp. is preparing to introduce a new video game subscription service for the PlayStation as early as next week, said people familiar with the plans.
> The service, which has been in development under the codename Spartacus, is Sony's answer to Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox Game Pass, a sort of Netflix for video games that has amassed more than 25 million subscribers. Sony's will debut with a splashy lineup of hit games from recent years, said the people, who requested anonymity because the plans are private.
> Sony's new service will combine two of its current offerings, PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus. Customers will be able to choose from multiple tiers offering catalogs of modern games and classics from older PlayStation eras.
> Documents obtained by Bloomberg last year showed the most expensive tier will also give players access to extended demos and the ability to stream games over the internet. A spokesperson for Sony didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

I just hope the stuff I care about doesn't go up in price, and that the monthly games don't continue to get worse.

I agree. I know its very unlikely, but I hope what ever sub tiers there are. The current price point of PS+ at least stays the same quality or at gets better slightly.

well.   at least we won't have to wait long for bloomberg to be shown to be full of $#it

Kitler continues to be not like Bloomberg. :P

So how does Jason's good record here meet up with Takashi's bad record?  50% chance it happens next week?   ;D

Look at the wording... it "may" happen. These insiders never really commit to their word

Here in his twitter he says it "may be announced as soon as next week"

Takashi has a bizarrely bad record, and I think 2 or all of the console makers have put out statements discrediting his reports. Super weird.

Jason has a pretty solid record. There's a few things he's claimed that are still waiting to be confirmed, but I am not aware of anything he's said actually being wrong.

Overall, I don't think we are far off from this being announced.

Jim Ryan said this was coming almost 16 months ago now.

While I always doubt insiders. I think Jason has a pretty good track record. Isnt he the one who leaked spartacus originally? Still nothing is confirmed.

I think so and at the same time claimed Sony was "very soon" going to have a massive announcements show including this.

...that was ages ago now.

I'm ~99% confident you're thinking of someone else.

There are two other people that said/speculated Sony was going to have the big showcase in March.

The Era thread is absolutely baffling.

1.) We already knew Day 1 games were not going to be in the service.

2.) It's exactly what was rumored, so why are people disappointed. I might even argue it's better because the games library is better than I expected.

3.) There's also a lot of takes that just seem to be by people who can't read. :P

Bunch of Xbox fanboys. Its basically it honestly

Heck you already have a thread saying live service is worse than subscription model games. A huge portion of that forum is completely delusional. Should I make the huge list of live service MS games?
