read the blog.   can't say i even get how this is different than today if i were subbed to both ps+ and ps now.   seems like a marketing change more than a functional change.   maybe i'm missing something...

as i'm seeing it i'll stay at the essential teir.

Honestly, me too. I just don't see the difference? Perhaps a bit with the pricing, but I didnt pay much attention to that.

I'll stay on the regular PS+ as well

devils in the details i suppose.   returnal coming to premium is a thing i guess.   i'm not entirely familur with pricing so this may be a bit of a reduced cost to those subbing to both services.

...but all i see is people acting like they had no idea that ps now already had ps5 titles and already supported download for games that could run natively.

i would have been excited if it supported at least 1 of these two new features:
- ps3 games could be downloaded.   i want access to ps3 games but not if streaming is my only options.
- my entire digital catalog is available via streaming.   not that i want to stream often but i do stream from my mother in-laws house on holidays and the ps5 remote play is a bit janky.

time trials is new i guess but i don't really care for demos typically.

to me all i see is sony trying to take on gamepass but being far more realistic in their value proposition than gamepass which is (imo) going to destroy our industry.    i'm personally glad this doesn't come with the promise of day-1 releases because i hate that MS's first party is going more and more towards releasing drummed up dlc or games that only serve as platforms to sell dlc.  i hate mobile gaming and f2p titles and i hate console games are moving more and more towards all that BS.    ...but i know that most customers will just see this as a worse value.

i dunno.   maybe i'll go premium.

every holiday i renew my ps+ sub at $45 (25% discount from $60).   if i can do the same with premium ($120 * 0.75= $90) maybe it's worth it even if i'm not all that excited about it.   it's not like it costs a lot.   i just really don't play my ps+ games as is...

It's not wildly different, but it's basically PS Now + PS+, but slightly better.

- PS1 and PSP games are being added.

- cheaper tier access to PS4/PS5 games. Expanded Instant Game library

- more games. Adding games like Returnal, Spiderman Miles Morales.

yep.  in the paragraph at the end they state:

QuoteThe new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PlayStation Plus. With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart. At launch, we plan to include titles such as Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal. We're working closely with our imaginative developers from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners to include some of the best gaming experiences available with a library that will be regularly refreshed. More details to come on the games we'll have on our new PlayStation Plus service.

Cool. The 2 regular monthly games will probably get worse but otherwise nothing changes for me.

Also bloomberg was right. Jason is essentially never wrong.

I was tempted to say it.   ;D

Fun fact: Extra alone has almost as big of a console games library as Game Pass (455 console games).

But are they what I want to play?

Really though I just want them to not be removed.
